Manchester United’s Phil Bardsley in bustup with manager

Written by Ahmed Bilal. Tagged: Manchester United

Taking a breather from the Champions League, here’s an interesting bit of news:

“Phil Bardsley’s time at Rangers could be over after a bust-up in training with manager Paul Le Guen.

The incident between the on-loan Manchester United right-back and the Rangers boss took place during a Tuesday training session.

Rangers insist that Bardsley has not been sent back to Old Trafford.”

The Manchester United right-back has, however, been dropped from the squad due to travel to Italy for their Uefa Cup tie with Livorno on Thursday.

There’s no reaon to doubt that this actually happened, although ‘bust-up’ is a broad term - it could be an ass-kicking a-la Gravesen and Robinho or a war of words between player and manager.

What is most interesting about this is how Manchester United, and especially Ferguson, will take the news. He’ll be waiting to hear all sides of the story, but the fact remains that Bardsley is one of the key future members of the Manchester United squad (as Neville’s long-term replacement), and if there’s an attitude problem Ferguson will be ‘itching’ to fix it.
