Dutch champions PSV travel to Old Trafford this week for a crucial Champions League encounter with Manchester United. Group B is extremely tight at the moment and a defeat for either side could be fatal.

Manchester United’s visit to Netherlands earlier this season was a catastrophic one. Not only did the Red Devils lose the game, they also lost a vital player in Luke Shaw.

Louis Van Gaal’s side have recovered since then and are in a good run of form. The Dutchman is aware of the game’s importance and will need to make sure that his side avenges their defeat at the Philips Stadion.

The Premier League outfit crashed to a 2-1 defeat against PSV earlier this season and are second in their group, just one point behind the Dutch outfit.

However, Manchester United are level on points with Wolfsburg and just 2 points ahead of the Russians, CSKA Moscow. With just 3 points separating all four sides in Group B, this week could prove to be decisive in terms of qualification.

The home side are high on confidence after their last gasp win against West Brom at the weekend and will be delighted with the return of Wayne Rooney for Wednesday’s game. The Manchester United captain missed the trip to WBA with an illness.

Manchester United vs PSV Eindhoven Team News

Louis Van Gaal’s team is plagued with injuries at the moment and the Dutchman will be without the services of several key players.

The likes of Ander Herrera and Phil Jones are out of the PSV game with hamstring and foot injuries.

Michael Carrick (foot) and Marouane Fellaini (calf) are still recovering from their injuries and are expected to return this weekend.

Luke Shaw and Antonio Valencia are expected to be back next year.

But there could be some good news for Manchester United if Anthony Martial is passed fit for the game. The French striker picked up a foot injury against England and is progressing well.

Meanwhile youngster James Wilson is expected back by the end of this week.

As for PSV Eindhoven, the Dutch outfit are set to be without their two key players in Jetro Willems and Maxime Lestienne.

Defender Menno Koch ruptured his ACL and is out as well.
