Are Lille lying about everything?

So far Lille has come up with various reasons for the whole fiasco that happened over at Lens.
Firstly, they have suggested that the lower tier where the Manchester United fans were seated was NOT overcrowded! They have claimed that the reason the United fans were climbing the fencing was due to violence by Manchester United fans and therefore the staff acted appropriately by using tear gas and batons and have claimed they were not heavy handed at all!

They have also gone on to say that although the area was overcrowded it was Manchester United’s fault due to the fact that tickets were forgeries! Apparently this is Manchester United’s fault for releasing the tickets a month before the game instead of distributing the tickets on arrival in France. It’s always been procedure for the club to release tickets weeks before a game and the club has never had this problem before!

As well as all the stadium problems, they have also complained to UEFA about the controversial Ryan Giggs free kick and have suggested that the match be replayed despite the fact that it appears to be well within the rules to take a free kick in this manner!

Are Lille trying to play the innocent party in this whole fiasco? is it just sour grapes? Or have they really been hard done by?

They ought to be discipline a lot;the protesting and threatenin to leave the field, the home fans bad behaviour, the lack of security given to away fans;these fuckers smoked us instead and now fake tickets WTF people, few could have gotten killed here…

Apart from the odd isolated incident the stewards, police and clubs would never allow that sort of behaviour from fans in English stadiums… Ok I’m not saying all English fans are angels but we do know how to behave once we are inside the ground as the security at games in England is tight but lets be honest here if we would have behaved in the manner that those Lille fans did on Tuesday i’m sure we would be looking at ban, massive fine or a game behind closed doors. It happens week in week out in Europe where fans just act like animals but when English fans (club or country) go away it is us that are treated like animals! When would you ever find a fan taking a home made bomb to a local derby?? It wouldn’t happen here but look at that game in Italy the other week when a policeman was killed by a fan with a home made bomb… It’s time that European teams took a leaf out of our book and policed games with common sense rather than with brute force!!!! ANYWAYS IT WAS NICE TO SEE US WIN AWAY IN EUROPE ;-)

could you imagine what would have happend if the whole thing was reversed? if lille’s fans had been attacked in manchester with batons and tear gas after being crammed into the wrong section of a stadium that doesnt have turnstiles, we would have been thrown out of europe the next day. Europe is very jealous of the success not only of the english league commercially, but also as it seems to be the only major european league that isnt racist(spain), violent(italy), or with an inadequate infrastructure (france).

  4. Because French are Saints. Everything they did are right. Henry is allowed to score quick Freekicks for Arsenal and France and they never complaint. And now, you get a French as a UEFA president. Be prepared for the worst, mate!

  5. Chris - Agree with you on the first bit. If Man Utd had this sorta trouble not only would there have been more noise but swifter action as well.

  6. The French - spitting the dummy out? Downing tools? Trying to make us English out to be nothing more than barbarians? Whinging about some perceived injustice? Taking warranted criticism as an offence to their pride and honour?

Surely there must be some mistake…:)

  7. Just finished watching the 2nd leg against Lille, and as a proud man united fan and supporter of the premiership in general, justice has been served the way it should be - on the pitch! sure it was never a foregone conclusion but (as has been the case with united for the past few games) i think its the sign of a trophy-winning team when they dont play anywhere near thaie best and still tuck up opponents 1-0. how many times did chelsea do the same bloody thing last year and the year before? and what an old trafford sendoff for henrik larsson?!
