Dan, I agree that Pogrebnyak should get a look from a top team in Europe. I think the reason why there wasn’t as much buzz over him as opposed to Arshavin or even Pavlyevchenko was because he was hurt during Euro 2008 and that was when Arshavin and Pavlyevchenko’s stock went through the roof. Had he been healthy, who knows? Maybe Tottenham would be trying to get him as we speak.

Harasuke, Abramovich was shown celebrating the win in one of the luxury boxes. I just write what I see. I’m like Randy Newman in that way. It’s easy to see why he would be happy with this result. After all, he’s Russian, so naturally, he would be pulling for his countrymen. Plus, he just saw his biggest rivals get their butts handed to them. I’d be pretty happy, wouldn’t you?

As for Arshavin. He’s younger than I am. That makes him young to me

I don’t see how they “shocked” us, if anybody watched them in the UEFA Cup last season and how they dismantled Bayern with ease, i would have considered them favourites going into the match seeing as half of united’s players are still on summer holiday and some hav’nt returned from their honeymoon, yes rooney you!

We all have to agree that this cup is pretty useless, isn’t it? But this match is a real eye-opener. First of all, it shows zenit are Champions league quality and that Utd are not in form. So, who’ll win the match 4 fitness 4 the big match? Lfc or Utd? We’ll see.

Also, who wrote that article? You should get ur facts right: Arshavin is NOT young(footballing-wise)-he’s 28, i think.Also, why would Abramovitch be celebrating? True, he’s russian, but he only owns 2 teams: cska moscow n cska london.

Another thing that surprises me is that during the summer transfer season, with all the buzz surrounding Arshavin and the recent signing of Pavlyevchenko, no one seemed to be interested in Pogrebniak… but really, he was the real engine and heart behind this Zenit side that won the UEFA Cup last season (almost individually tearing apart might Bayern).

It would count if UEFA actually played this match at the end of last season and the winner of the match was then given the spot in the World Club Cup (or whatever FIFA calls it). Add a purse worth the effort and it would become worth it.

But then again, I wasn’t hearing many complaints by ManUtd fans when they won the Community Shield. Years ago this match was played in the middle of the season.
