United’s front four have scored nearly 60 goals between them. They are on fire at the minute. Their goal difference is huge, which isn’t just down to the defence. Ronaldo is the 2nd highest scorer in the premiership.

Spurs simply aren’t nearly as good as United, which is reflected on the league table.

Watching an under-strength Tottenham side go toe-to-toe with United at Old Trafford last month in the FA Cup demonstrated the fact that a great measure of United’s supremacy is down to determination.

United are not the team that they were last year, improved defensive displays have deflected criticism from a weakened force. Much of this is down to Ronaldo’s deflated enthusiasm.

Man for man, Spurs are equal in skill level. United’s team-play is superior. But the Charlie Chaplin step-overs aren’t doing it for Ronaldo this year, his threat reduced to the still-sublime free kicks.

Spurs determination will be intense, with this being their unique chance to ensure European football next season. It could go either way.

Spurs were not beaten by Shaktar at White Hart Lane. That was in -7ÂºC in the Ukraine. They may possibly do that again at White Hart Lane this Thursday, but don’t write us off yet!
