Looking at that list I don’t think Fergie’s done a bad job overall. Wish we’d got more for Ruud and paid a bit less for Carrick though.

True – Rooney’s basic fee was 20 mil, Carrick’s basic fee was 14 mil.

We bought almost 50 mil worth of players in 2004 (Jan and Summer). While 20+ was for Rooney, it did mean that we could spend too much in 2005 and even this year I have a feeling we might be overspending.

Wayne Rooeny didn’t cost Â£27 million any more than Carrick cost Â£18.6 million. Both figures have been inflated with assumptions regarding the bundled bonus packs (total of the transfer fees approx Â£11 million). The summer of 2003 showed a precident where we received more than we spent so I guess we cannot assume that we will be dipping into this summers transfer budget.
