Manchester United Transfers History (2003-2006)

This started as a review of Sir Alex Ferguson’s performance in the transfer market since 2002/2003, when Manchester United last won the Premiership.

I’ll be posting the review later, but Manchester United’s transfer history is all yours to see and comment over.

Red11.org has all historical transfers (from when the club started) but they stopped updating in June 2004…however, if you’re interested in them, here’s the link.

Wayne Rooeny didn’t cost £27 million any more than Carrick cost £18.6 million. Both figures have been inflated with assumptions regarding the bundled bonus packs (total of the transfer fees approx £11 million). The summer of 2003 showed a precident where we received more than we spent so I guess we cannot assume that we will be dipping into this summers transfer budget.

True – Rooney’s basic fee was 20 mil, Carrick’s basic fee was 14 mil.

We bought almost 50 mil worth of players in 2004 (Jan and Summer). While 20+ was for Rooney, it did mean that we could spend too much in 2005 and even this year I have a feeling we might be overspending.

Looking at that list I don’t think Fergie’s done a bad job overall. Wish we’d got more for Ruud and paid a bit less for Carrick though.

Yes, Martino. I daresay that money would’ve come in handy for Hargreaves.
