Winger agrees term, Manchester United transfer likely next week

Nani Sporting Footballer of The year

Manchester United winger Nani is all set to leave Old Trafford this summer. According to reports from The Guardian, Nani has agreed personal terms with Fenerbahce and he is expected to complete a move to the Turkish club within next week. Both the clubs are still locked in discussion over the transfer fee with United holding out for more than 5m offered by Fenerbahce.

Nani Sporting Footballer of The year

Nani was signed by Sir Alex Ferguson from Sporting in 2007 for a reported fee of €25.5m. The 28-year-old started his Old Trafford career on a high. He instantly became a fan favourite and his first five years at the club earned him a lot of success. However, after 2012-13, when form and injuries restricted his game time, he gradually dropped down the pecking orders at the club.

Last season he was sent on a loan to Sporting as a part of the deal, that  saw Argentine defender Marcos Rojo making the move in the other direction. Nani enjoyed a great season back home, where he made 27 league appearances and scored seven goals.

Despite all his brilliances last season, Louis van Gaal doesn’t consider him as a part of his long term plans. Having signed Memphis Depay from PSV already, United now boast an avalanche of attacking forwards in their ranks, as a result some of the players will be forced to make way.

Giuliano Terraneo, the Fenerbahce Sporting director, has travelled to Portugal to sort out the final details with the player’s agent. Initially Nani was reluctant to move to Turkey, but in the end he has decided to experience playing at a new country.

Nani has already a personal terms, but there is still a fee to be sorted out between both the clubs. Fenerbahce wants to complete the deal in euros, while United are pushing for sterling. Nani is expected to join his agent in Portugal to meet Terraneo after he returns from holiday.
