A win for United would mean staying a second place contender and Tottenham possibly losing their Europa League spot to West Brom. A win for the Spurs probably see Tottenham overtake United to grab the fourth spot behind Manchester City – given City beats Wolves. And if West Brom also beats Blackpool, United could drop to 6th on the table.
If United is to drop to 6th on the table, it could be the going down the same road as Liverpool did last season. The player power, the owners and the debt are the problems very much visible to everyone. United is still to hit the top form and it is all down to Alex Ferguson to spark life back into the United squad.

United is unbeaten so far this season but they have drawn more games than they have won (4-5-0). In fact, United is the only unbeaten team this season even though they’re five points behind toppers Chelsea and behind on goal difference from Arsenal.
Manchester United
Beating Tottenham will also extend their unbeaten start to the season to ten games. Alex Ferguson must be disappointed that his side has failed to remain in touch with Chelsea at the top of the table and with the Wayne Rooney saga finally over and registering their first away win of the season, Ferguson will look forward to closing down the gap between the Red Devils and the “Blue Angels”.
2010/2011 Stats:
Manchester United are scoring just over two goals a game and conceding just over one every game. They have failed to score just once.
At Old Trafford, they have won three of their four fixtures and they have been scoring almost three goals a game while conceding four goals in all.
Their best result, this season, came against Newcastle United when they beat them 3-0 and their worst result came against West Brom when they were held to a 2-2 draw.
Dimitar Berbatov is the highest goal scorer for United this season so far with six goals. Nani and Chicharito have both scored three goals each. Wayne Rooney scored just one and he should be ashamed of himself because even Darren Fletcher has scored two.
Paul Scholes is the most troublesome player in the squad with four yellow cards.
Injuries:
Owen Hargreveas is starting the game… Just kidding.
Antonio Valencia is to return in February, Wayne Rooney is out with an ankle injury, Ryan Giggs and Michael Owen are also unavailable with hamstring injuries.
Tottenham
Tottenham is handed probably one of the best chances to defeat United in more than 22 games and Harry Redknapp is probably aware of that. Spurs have not beaten United since 2000 when they beat the Red Devils 3-1 at White Hart Lane.
With United yet to hit top form, Redknapp and his men will be going on an all out attack. A win will not only break a 22-game-streak but also see the Lilywhites break into the top four of the league table and dumping United to 5th and possibly 6th position on the league table.
2010/2011 Stats:
This season Tottenham have scored just over a goal a game and conceded just under a goal a game. They have failed to score thrice in eight games so far. Spurs’ best result came against Wolves when they won the game 3-1 and their worst result was their loss to Wigan 1-0.
Spurs have won two of their four away games, drawn one and lost one. They have conceded four goals away from home but scored five.
Their top scorer is the Dutchman Rafael van der Vaart with four goals and Roman Pavlyuchenko and Gareth Bale have scored two goals each.
As far as discipline is concerned, van der Vaart, Sandro, Tom Huddlestone and Wilson Palacios have all received two yellow cards each.
Injuries:
No fresh injury concerns for Redknapp who will be without Verdan Corluka with a groin strain, Jermain Defoe with an ankle sprain, Michael Dawson with a knee injury, Jonathan Woodgate with a groin and pelvis injury and Jamie O’Hara with a back injury.
