Manchester United To Choose Between Martins & Adriano
It’s a nice choice to have, provided Manchester United can foot the transfer bill for one of them, and that figure will not be less than 20 million pounds.
As news breaks about Juventus selling Ibrahimovic to Inter Milan for 16.7 mil pounds, There is a lot of pressure on Inter’s strikers.
For starters, their positions in the team are threatened due to the arrival of Crespo and Ibrahimovic. Inter have been handed a maga-lucky hand and have a golden opportunity to win the Serie A had cement a hold at the top of the pile. Understandably they are looking to reinforce their front-line and at least one of their strikers could be a casualty. It’s conceivable that Crespo, Ibrahimovic and one of Martins and Adriano could fit in Inter Milan, but all four?
Martins is rumoured to have handed in a transfer request while Adriano’s agent has been rumoured to have claimed that Manchester United have agreed on personal terms with Adriano. Either way, the situation looks almost too good to be true, as both Adriano and Martins are very, very good players. Let’s just hope Manchester United can plump up the funds, although from the looks of it we might just work on bringing Alan Smith back into the striking picture.
Adriano (24) will give us a powerhouse frontline that should be able to batter down any defence in Europe, while Martins (21) will give us pace to rival the fastest strikers in the Premiership. Martins has been linked with Manchester United before as well, with the thought that he was most likely to leave Inter if he was denied a starting berth. Adriano is a bit of the same, and is still young enough to have a long-term impact on Manchester United’s future.
Who do you think Manchester United should move for? Yup, vote away

Adriano is fat , lazy and overrated , Martins is like a better version of Bellion.Neither are worth the figures banded about. If we have that sort of money (which we dont) we should be back in for Torres. Who, if UTD stumped up the cash would love to come to UTD. The problem is UTD were , and still are very keen , but have a fixed budget for him for transfer and wages eg. if we pay 25 million , we can offer wages at 50k per week , if we pay 20 million for him we can offer wages 75k per week ( example figures). The fact is however , that we dont have that kind of money to spend and will end up with net transfer spend in the 2 seasons. And still people think the Glazers arent doing too bad.
August 10th, 2006 @ 14:30i think Martins is better.
August 10th, 2006 @ 17:00None of the above please!! I would rather make do with the strikers we have than buy Martins or Adriano.
Ole is banging in the goals for pre-season!
A midfielder is still the priority.
August 10th, 2006 @ 17:34Well, we have yet to spend any of this season’s £25 to £35 million transfer budget, and still have around £8 million left of the £22 million raised from player sales. We have the money and targeting Senna indicates that a sizable proportion of it is being held back – presumably for a purpose. If we are planning on a world calss signing then a £20 to £30 million looks very possible – adriano fits in that range (as does Torres and Diarra).
August 10th, 2006 @ 17:55Billy Bob’s got a good point – if we have that sort of money, we might as well bid for Torres (although the player has categorically said that he doesn’t want to leave and he’s not a better finisher than Adriano).
August 10th, 2006 @ 17:58If you have to chose one it would be Martins, Adriano has been very hit and miss at inter, and UTD need a solid goal scorer who is persistent and consistent. Having said that I agree with De_Roiste a Midfield is priority, but you cant sell the likes of Nistelrooy and not replace him it would be madness.
August 10th, 2006 @ 18:17UTD have surprised us before with there lack of or poor buying in the market, but I have a horrid feeling, it doesnt look good for this season 4 slot at best is my estimate with the end of SAF. SAF has allowed the team to dwindle probably because of the Glaziers having to pay back so much cash, but it doesnt look god at present
Adriano seems to be very hit and miss as far as his form is concerned. He can be either incredible or incredibly poor. Martins seems to be an outstanding prospect – lighting pace (which is required in the Premiership these days) and a good eye for goal. He’s the sort of player who could feed off Scholes and Carrick’s “Eye of the Needle” passes. You say Adriano would give us a “powerhouse” front line. Martins is no shrinking violet. Him and Rooney together would for me be a more exciting prospect than Rooney and Adriano. (I’d still have loved there to have been some truth in the Torres or Tevez rumours though).
August 10th, 2006 @ 21:03im confused though, we want a holding midfeilder, neither of these is schoes or carrick, and neithier are dropping to the bench, which means by the end of the month we’re going to have 3 central players. Which means one striker. Can someone help me out a little?
vds
neville ferdinand brown heinze
diarra / senna
carrick scholes
ronaldo giggs
rooney
its the only way i see this happening, and remember no one in that midfield is’nt warming the bench. Playing like chelsea i think. Hopefully that doensnt mean we wont ever see beautiful football again!
August 11th, 2006 @ 02:06Andriano coming to ManU will cost us who is he going to pair with?He is too greedy,Obafemi will be better but we have five attackers now lets give them the chance or may we should sign one more in case of injury but definately neither of the two.
August 12th, 2006 @ 14:10ADRIANO then we will hav 2 powerhouse strikers in him and wayne rooney,u cant get better than them two in my opinion!
August 16th, 2006 @ 18:46i think that Manchester United needs both Martins and Adriano because giggs is getting older so they need someone fast on the side and Saha is has too many injuries so they would need Adriano to replace him but is you need to choose between Adriano and Martins it i would say Adriano hes bigger better stronger and has better skills that Martins
