at 32? nah, rio has more in his game as i said before as his game doesnt rely on speed as such, its merely a big bonus for a defender and he'll have more in his cylinder at 32 than terry will ever have. now that bardsley went to rangers on loan and simpson to holland, who will cover gary? i hope not brown as i love him as a CB and he lacks the attribute of a full back, especially crossing and for sure not o'shea although he has the good habit of proving me wrong.

Mark,

I agree, to an extent. I don't think that Ferdinand will tail off like Campbell has. I would like nothing more than to see him stick around and lead the back line till 2010 and beyond, but I think World Cup 2010 (assuming he makes it, which he should) will be a point where he starts to slow down and possibly, suffer more injury problems.

great article, but i think rio could play until he's 34 minimum. his game isnt much about pace as anticipation, and even when it comes around with pace, at 34 he'll still be very fast by defenders standard.
