Manchester United Roundup: striker ratings, Heinze staying and Tevez coming in?

Here’s the Manchester United related news over the past couple of days:

1. There was a rant about how Tevez can play alongside Rooney. It was mostly driven out of wishful thinking on our part. We’d really love for Tevez to come over to United because he’s simply a bloody good player.

2. In yesterday’s roundup we had briefly discussed about an article about Hargreaves filling Keano’s boots. We also wondered if Drogba was getting too complacent writing off Arsenal.

3. Then there was this rather excellent article that even non-Man Utd fans must read. The guy’s done some pretty good research on his strikers, and gives an objective analysis on which striker would best fit Manchester United, if we buy.

4. There’s this talk about players trying not to swear at the refs at the drop of the hat, and behaving like nice little schoolgirls. Well, not school girls exactly, but nice blokes at least. Some random thoughts like player dissent, diving, life, karma etc were thrown about to make an article. So go ahead and read it.

5. Why Heinze won’t go to Liverpool - It seems very simple, but there are hordes of Liverpool fans bitching about the sheer idea that United won the Prem last season. Or something.

That should round it up. Do keep visiting Red Rants for more Manchester United news.

  1. tevez ain’t going 2 united he’s going to madrid.

  2. I heard a rumour that Madrid is going to bid on Adriano.

  3. fans in transfer season can put a gaggle of old ladies to shame :)

heinze is going nowhere unless he wants to … which would imply a handful of cups capable of competing for both the domestic title and CL

‘pool isn’t one of them for sure

  4. i know all fans are disappointed of failure in signing torres. but Tevez may be a good person who will fit in.
Torres is good, but he still lacks experience in England. But Tevezz had already gone through one seaon in West Ham. It is time to move on.
Other targets(rumors) include Adraino, Huntleer and also Ibramivoc(sorry spelling).
Adraino may be expensive, but the manager of Inter may release him due to his bad “show”
Huntleer is one of the best targets. But the sign of him scoring more than 20 goals is very low because Holland League’s level is lower then Premires’s League.
Ibramivoc will be the most expensive.

    If I am Fergrusion,
    i will bid for:
    Huntleer>Tevezz>Ibramivoc>Adraino

  5. “Huntleer is one of the best targets. But the sign of him scoring more than 20 goals is very low because Holland League’s level is lower then Premires’s League.

Van Nistelrooy didn´t seem to care about that…..

  6. Hi people, i was wondering of all the strikers that have been mentioned all this months, no one seems to mention Nery Castillo from Mexico. He’s young, only 23 years of age and is doing very well at the moment. I’ve watched some matches Mexico played in Copa America and he’s very impressive. He has scored goals when it matters, and from what i have read from soccernet, man united tried to sign him when he was 16 but failed due to work permit. Why dun man u try to sign him now? And he wouldn’t cost as much. I would say around 8-10millions.
What you lads think about it?

  7. Ibramivoc?! That doesn’t even pass as spelling.

  8. I’m a Madrid fan, from Madrid. We have a clown as president, and no one knows what we’ll be doing.

Man United should sign David Villa because hez dynamite.
    Tevez will b a gr8 signin

  10. Looking at the list of potential striker targets for united I would add this one to the list …

    Cristiano Ronaldo (Manchester United)
    Aerial Threat : 6 ft 1 in - 8/10; Creativity - 10/10; Consistency - 9/10; Unselfishness - 6/10; Age : 22 - 9/10; Discipline - 8/10; Stability - 9/10; Proven - 10/10; Adaptability - 7/10; Possibility : 40 M Pounds - 10/10; Total - 86/100.

Yes he has played a lot on the wings, but as a potential striker he has promise :)

Considering we have Nani, Giggs and Park fully able to bless our wings there is no reason why Ronaldo can’t be used up front more often this coming season.

  11. ps - price at 10/10 I justify as we get him for free (we already have him), and in comparison with a proven unrealistic pricetag for Rossi (I say unrealistic as we are in the process of selling him for a lot less).

I also justify 8/10 for disipline - to come back from the world cup the way he did, put up with croud taunts and ugly tackles and still keep his cool might even build a case for 9/10 (but I refrained due to a couple of times he lost his temper last season).

  12. Sorry to add one more before anyone else has commented, but this just has to be said! If anyone thinks that 86/100 is too high please justify a lower figure. I some ways I was being cruel in some areas (eg. I marked him low on unselfishness ignoring many goals he set up for others). Even if others rate him lower than my 86/100 I suspect he will still be rated above the other players mentioned (eg. Torres).

  13. TEVEZ IS FINALLY COMING IN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
