Manchester United have been linked with a move for the Sporting midfielder Joao Mario.

The Sporting star has been sensational in the Liga Sagres this season and is a target for both Chelsea and Manchester United.

Latest reports state that Chelsea have already met the player’s agent to discuss a move, but Manchester United are determined to start a bidding war for him. João Mário’s new agent Kia Joorabchian was in Lisbon with a Chelsea official to register their interest in his client.

Chelsea are willing to offer around 50 million Euros for the midfielder, but Manchester United have indicated that they would be willing to go up to 60 million Euros for him.

There have also been reports that Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is personally interested in Joao Mario and wants to sign him for Chelsea.

It will be interesting to see if Manchester United maintain their interest in the player now that Van Gaal has been sacked. Mourinho is an admirer of the Valencia midfielder Andre Gomes.

Chelsea are already fighting with Manchester United for Nainggolan and Lukaku. It seems that Jose Mourinho is ready to go to war with his former club in the transfer market this summer.
