Manchester United set to battle Liverpool for the transfer of Sergio Romero

Share

Just a day after it was believed that Liverpool would seal the transfer of Argentine goalkeeper Sergio Romero, Italian media outlet Gazzetta Dello Sport  have reported that Manchester United have also asked Sampdoria about the availability of the World Cup hero.

It is believed that Louis Van Gaal wants Romero as the back up for David De Gea, while reigning Europa League Champions Sevilla are also interested in the player.

The 27 year old who returned to Sampdoria after a season loan from French side Monaco does not fit into the plans of the Italian club and his future looks certain to be away from his current surroundings.

It was earlier believed that Liverpool have almost reached an agreement to sign the shot stopper as Mino Raiola (same agent of Balotelli) has arrived in England to complete the transfer.

But the recent developments will come as a major stumbling block for the Reds to sign a well recognized deputy for Simon Mignolet as manager Brendan Rodgers looks to continue his rebuilding of the squad in what has been a busy transfer window for the Anfield outfit.

  1. Romero is not what we need at Man United as Degea and lingard are enough. we need a typical defensive midfielder and an experienced defender.

  2. Darren Fletcher MUST not put on UTD JERSEY anymore or else UTD MUST be strugling with result= Fletcher has nothing to offer utd anymore+no strenght/inability to win/possess ball~BIGGEST DECISION FOR UTD FOR MATA/VAN PERSIE/ I DOUBT IF THEY ARE STILL UTD PLAYERS.
