Valencia board members recently held a meeting where they discussed about the potential transfer move of Argentine defender Nicolas Otamendi, who is attracting strong interest from Manchester United.

Last month, Argentine newspaper dropped a bombshell, when they claimed that Manchester United had agreed a personal deal with the player.

We do not know whether such rumours are true, but we can fairly guess that Manchester United hold a genuine interest in the defender. Valencia press have been maintaining this stance for a while that their star player ‘is not for sale’. The La Liga club are demanding a fee in the region of €50m and are adamant that they will not sell Otamendi to any club unless the asking fee is met.

We covered few weeks back that the player’s agent would inform Los Che that his client would be interested in moving to the Premier League. According to reports from Plaza Deportivo, Otamendi’s agent has informed Valencia about Manchester United’s interest in signing the player in the summer.

While there were reports of a possible negotiation between both the clubs, Valencia owner Peter Lim has made it clear that Otamendi will not be sold for anything less than €50m. Why? Los Che consider Manchester United as a ‘rich club’ (which is very true) and therefore the English giants should be able to pay that money.

United will be looking to sign a top class central defender in the summer but will the Red Devils pay such a high transfer fee for the Argentine? It is not always easy to out-haggle Valencia from the negotiation table (especially now they are back in the Champions League) and the transfer saga could get really interesting if Manchester United show serious interest in signing the Argentine defender.
