Manchester United midfielder Ander Herrera is one of the eight players who could come under scrutiny as part of a match-fixing investigation.

During a match between Levante v Zaragoza in 2010/11 on the final day of the season, it is alleged that Levante players were paid to throw the game by Zaragoza.

Spanish newspaper Marca reports today that Herrera and few other players have come under investigation for receiving funds from ex-Real Zaragoza president Agepito Iglesias. He played in the match against Levante and therefore has been called to shed light on the ban transactions that took place because he hasn’t declared it to the Anti-Corruption unit.

At this stage of investigation, players that are residing in Spain, have had to make some declaration already. For players playing abroad, they can do it later, when they would be summoned by the court.

If necessary, the Spanish law enforcement may call upon their English counterparts to make sure Herrera returns to Spain and explain everything in details.
