Manchester United made firm bid for Paul Pogba?

Paul Pogba has won his fourth Serie A title this season with Juventus and the French international is expected to take Euro 2016 by storm this summer.

Since joining from Manchester United on a free transfer, Pogba has not only become a key player for Juventus but he has emerged as one of the best young midfielders in the world at the moment.

Although he has repeatedly stated that he is happy in Turin but his future has always been a subject of intense speculation in the media. There is a strong interest from a host of Premier League clubs while La Liga giants Barcelona have been his long-term admirers as well.

La Liga champions Barcelona had reportedly made an offer for Pogba last summer, but a transfer embargo imposed on the Catalan giants prevented them from signing the French midfielder. As per reports in Spain, Barca had tabled a mouthwatering €85m bid for Pogba, but it was rebuffed, with Juventus looking to settle for a fee in the region of €100m.

Pogba is frequently linked with a move to Chelsea. The appointment of former Juventus boss Antonio Conte as the new Chelsea manager has sparked the speculative fire on the 23-year-old star’s possibility of joining the Blues.

Mino Raiola, Pogba’s agent, however, has stated that his client won’t move to Chelsea any time soon. The Blues won’t be featuring in Champions League next season and Pogba is unlikely to join a club that cannot offer him European football at the moment.

Reputed journalist Duncan Castles reported for One World Sports that Juventus are “open to the sale” of Pogba, with both United and Paris Saint-Germain having made firm bids for the player.

United would definitely love to bring Pogba back to Old Trafford but there are certain obstacles in carrying out the transfer. Pogba’s massive price tag is a huge put-off while United will also need to convince him to leave the Serie A champions for a team that cannot offer him Champions League football next season.
