Manchester United gag Ronaldo over transfer rumours
The Guardian tells us that Ferguson and Queiroz have told Ronaldo to avoid talking to the press about any transfer rumours linking him away from Manchester United.
Notwithstanding the fact that it is sound advice (why stir up a nest of hornets), many will see this as a sign of weakness - all it goes to show is that sooner or later, the lure of playing for the Spanish giants (Real Madrid or Barcelona) will be too great.
Right now, neither Madrid nor Barcelona are willing (or able) to test Manchester United’s will seriously. No 30-40m offers are on the table, and even then, Ronaldo will not go for anything less than 40-45 mil - a very high price but considering his age and his talents (not to mention his star appeal), reasonable in today’s transfer climate. After all, if Bale can go for 10m, Richards is touted for 18m and Sheva goes for 31m, Ronaldo is worth at least 40m, isn’t he?
By 2010, Ronaldo will be 25-26 and in the prime of his career. Manchester United’s main task is not to keep him here for the next season, because he’s certain to stay for a while anyway. Manchester United’s challenge will be in keeping Ronaldo at Old Trafford when he’s 24-25 - when he’s already played for Manchester United for 5-6 years and wants the chance to live out his dream (playing for Real Madrid).
It will be very difficult to stop Ronaldo then.

The thing i’m extremely puzzled over is, WHY are Real Madrid interested when he is most expensive? This summer he offered his services to them but they declined to even make a bid for him. But i believe that he will eventually leave for one of the 2 big Spanish teams in the near future.
ALSO: There is no way Ronaldo is worth €60mill. , If Kaka is worth €50mill.
I think he will only leave if he thinks he cant win trophies with united. Its really down to the results at the end of the day. If in 3 years he feels he can with the league and champions league and if united offer him the money the top earners are getting, he will have no reason to leave. True he might leave someday to play for Barca or Real but as a young players its money and trophies that matters. In all probability he will leave, but i think only when he is about 28-29.
A - I’m not sure it’s just the trophies. We’re talking about a player whose dream as a kid was to play for Real Madrid. If you get a chance to make that dream come true, you don’t resist it for too long.
But yea, United will have to keep things ‘very’ attractive to keep him around.
I doubt that Ronaldo will consider making a move to Madrid now that Ruud is there. One of the main reasons Ruud left was because of the confrentation between him and Ronaldo….so why would Ronaldo want to put himself or Ruud in the same position when Ruud is only going to be playing for another 2 years…
Ronaldo leaving?!? I could really see that happening, although i would hate it, being a united fan. The Madrid and Barca star factor would be too much to resist. Ronnie would relish the chance to link up with Deco at Barca or live out his dreams in Madrid. Sir Alex must try to keep him at United. Without him, United are toothless. He doesnt have a single replacement. Park? Richardson? Now we will see how much missing out on ‘going to Chel$ki over my dead body’Robben will hurt us.. Dont go RONNIE!!!!
there is only one club that can afford ronaldo atm and that’s CSKA London.
no way real and barca can pay 50m
