According to reports in Italy, Manchester United are considering to join the race for Inter Milan’s midfielder Fredy Guarin.

Chelsea were thought to be interested in Guarin, with The Times reporting that the Blues manager is keen to land the midfielder. Inter already rejected an offer of £13 million bid from Chelsea but Serie A giants could be willing to sell their midfielder, once their £15 million valuation is met and the report said talks were going on at an advanced stage.

Inter Milan’s new president Erick Thohir recently admitted that Fredy Guarín is likely to leave the club, with the player aiming to play in the Premier League. He said recently as quoted in The Mirror:

“Guarín is a great player, I like him a lot. We would obviously love to keep him, but the situation in Europe is not like in Indonesia,”

“When there are great offers from big clubs, we have to take them into account. And above all, we can’t make a player stay when his heart is not in it, but at another club.”

Chelsea have already signed Nemanja Matic from Benfica, while Jose Mourinho himself admitted in the press conference ahead of Hull City tie that he is not interested in the player.

Now, Sky Sports Italy are claiming that Manchester United are showing interest in the player and could make contact with the Italian club shortly.

The Red Devils are also looking to bolster their midfield region and are linked with a move for Juventus duo Arturo Vidal and Paul Pogba. These are still extremely early days, but it remains to be seen, whether the interest from Man Utd are concrete enough or it is just another passing rumour.
