Twenty-six years of elegance, fame and prestige murdered in just eight months. Perhaps this is enough to sum up David Moyes’ tumultuous reign at Manchester United since taking over from Sir Alex Ferguson in the summer.

It was Daily Telegraph Northern Football Correspondent Mark Ogden who first broke the story in twitter.

Sir Alex Ferguson had urged the club to give the next manager time when he stepped down in May but it seems as if the patience has run out.

The Red Devils lost 2-0 against Everton on Sunday as the United hierarchy believes that it was the final nail in the coffin for Moyes. United’s board are set to cut short Moyes’ six-year deal which after the loss to the Blues of Merseyside which left United 13 points adrift of the Premier League top four.

Henry Winter, Daily Telegraph Football Correspondent and columnist for the Sunday Telegraph too, felt the sack was along time coming.

Ryan Giggs is set to take charge at Old Trafford if United part ways with the Scot before Saturday’s home game against Norwich. Dutch Legend Louis Van Gaal is the favourite to take charge nest summer with Jurgen Klopp’s name also being on the lips in the streets leading up to the red half of Manchester.

Reports are ablaze that the Scot is set to be sacked by Manchester United with Sky Bet slashing the odds on Moyes’ departure to 1-10, naming Van Gaal as 4-1 favourite to succeed him, with Klopp at 5-1 and veteran winger Ryan Giggs at 6-1.
