According to the TMW website from Italy, young Anderlecht striker Aleksandar Mitrovic could move to Manchester United as a replacement for Radamel Falcao in the upcoming summer transfer window.

The 20 year old Serbian has been in stunning form this season and is one of the most sought after youngsters across Europe thanks to his exploits. The report from TMW states that several Italian clubs including Juventus, Napoli and AC Milan had sent scouts to watch Mitrovic earlier this season. However the player could move to Old Trafford to give an attacking edge in the Red Devils front line.

The Daily Mail reported earlier this month that Newcastle United have agreed to sign the striker but there has been no official confirmation as of yet. Mitrovic has scored 20 goals this season and has been watched by Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal and Swansea City as well.

However any potential suitor will have to pay €15m to Anderlecht to secure the services of Mitrovic. Louis Van Gaal has always been known to give youngsters the time to flourish, thus it wouldn’t be surprising if United do sign a young striker in the summer.

Radamel Falcao has largely disappointed in his loan spell and the Red Devils will need to need to pay £44m to Monaco to secure the Colombian’s services on a permanent deal. United have already paid £6m for his loan spell but they might not be willing to extend his stay at Old Trafford.

Robin Van Persie too has struggled with injuries while Javier Hernandez could also be sold following his loan spell at Real Madrid. It clearly means that United will look to bring in a striker at the end of the season and while big names have been suggested, it wouldn’t be surprise if Van Gaal does the opposite in his recruitments.
