Manchester United 7-1 Roma - Goal Videos

This was crazy - absolutely crazy.

Fulham 5-1 in August, Liverpool 2-0 at Old Trafford, the Bolton double - this game beat them all as a sheer statement of Manchester United’s intentions for this season.

There’s little to say about the game - you can read the match report on Wednesday morning, and for all the goals (8 of them), scroll down below.

Manu played well tonight. But roma were awful and could have been beaten by Accrington Stanley. Discuss…

  2. Oh, aren’t you cute :)
  3. :)

  4. You having that one Ahmed?

Utterly proud of our lads tonight.

All played fantastic (except Richardson, he managed to unimpress even on a night like tonight!)

    Great advert for English football.

Bloody Chelsea though! Can’t be bothered to have a moan about them on a night like tonight though.

We just have to make sure we take that kinda form into our last Prem matches.

  5. absouletly wonderful match

  6. ROMA FOREVER!!!

  7. Roma Forever? LOLOLOLOL! Forever Crap! Jesus, Man U should have let you score a couple out of pity!

  8. Finest performance in Europe , no doubt
    Superb playing , simply United

  10. April 11, 2007ged the red

incredible,i had a dream, but it didnt look quite so dramatic
nonetheless 7 goals to chelseas 1 per game looks admirable, even liverpool look good with a convincing HOME WIN like we all expect,if Chelski think theyre made of the same pastry we ll see come seasons end , one might notice without their african legionnaires they look a wee bit humble i suppose they went there to win and did justly so ,but come on Jose give us a break with yer girl like jawworks and let history prevail your just not class enough 4 the north dude !!

Yes its a minority but after the trouble in Roma hardly setting a good example is it?

  15. April 11, 2007Micky Smiff

ManU hype! Millwall could have beaten the Roma team tonight!

  16. Menny - let’s enjoy the win, shall we?

Tomorrow we’ll find who’s coming up against us in the semis - I’m rooting for Milan even though I know Bayern are the better side and should win.

Milan will be easier to defend against and easier to beat.

Watford on the weekend, Sheffield United next Tuesday/Wednesday. Easy week ahead of us, let’s enjoy it for now.

  17. yes, roma were truly shite, so shite that i think even liverpool might have been able to get a draw against them.

  18. sean - 11 games.

    6 Prem, 2 FA Cup, 3 CL.

we’re not winning the treble just yet though :) Let’s beat Watford first.

  19. really the best performance of the season….so far! congrats guys and keep it up! we are heading just right for the treble! the holy grail!hehehehe! we r going to rock!

but i just don’t get it why fergie is insistent on playing kieran richardson? the guy is shit! no football brains and skills! dunno when to cross or shoot or even pass! better off blooding the fledglings like Craig Cathcart or Dong who were both on the bench! Come on!! Bring it on!

  20. Richardson was brought on because he will probably play a big part in the next two games (Watford and Sheffield United) as Giggs and Ronaldo are rested / benched.

I had high hopes for him, they haven’t come true, but most of his errors seem to be a direct result of over-eagerness rather than ineptitude. Yes, there’s a difference.

He needs a full season playing in the Premiership before he can be a decent squad player. I’d say we should loan him out to the toughest manager there will be in the Prem next season - Keano :)

  21. Roma were terrible - the blues result in the Mestalla was just as significant becuase we played a team that turned up.

Should ManUre get past Bayern or AC - we will see you in Athens!!

Don’t panic over the league my Northern Friends - you will probably win it but we will win the FA and CPL. Next season will be very interesting!!

  22. TrueBlue - hmmmm - sour grapes?

United will probably play Bayern, you still have to get past Liverpool. Pool are better defenders than Valencia, and Chelsea are conceding goals. It will be interesting.

    Athens? Chelsea? Hah :P

  23. Ahmed, perhaps u r right. so, what is ur pick on Dong and Craig? the young ones….shouldn’t they be brought on for a taste of the action and for fergie to check them out? promising ones i heard….will they have a bit part anytime soon? honestly, i still think richardson would not cut it..maybe he can do a decent job for smaller teams like WBA and Sunderland, but not Man U. i reckon fergie should sign someone like Nani, Joaquin or Lennon to replace Giggsy soon…what say u? and fancy Hargreaves vs Carrick in the semis? hahahah! good one!

  24. Imagine getting the same result against Chelsea!
Imagine how would Jose’s face would be!

    My Verdict,

ManU Vs Bayern (Kinda, Dejavu, Manu to win)
Chelsea Vs Liverpool (Liverpool plays better in Champions league)

Athens Final: ManU Vs Liverpool (Liverpool always plays crap against united so …… !!!!!!!!!!!!!)

  25. Brilliant game.

What was especially nice was that SAF decided to still allow the guys to attack after the break. Usually they would have been under strict instruction to ‘keep it tight’…not this time. Brilliant!!!

  26. Everybody’s on about the wonderfull ‘man-of-the-match’ performances of Carrick, Giggs, Ronaldo, Rooney. Rightly so, but, for me I feel Heinze played REALLY superb.

  27. Yup, Heinze rocks! for the semis, i think its better we face Milan….due to their aging defence….and the plus point is another italian horse to scalp! hahaha! MU rocks!

  28. April 11, 2007joninjapan

i know darren fletcher is normally shite. . but i have to admit that was one of.. if not his best game that ive seen him play for ManU. . almost made up for no Scholes (whos been getting a lot of forced rest recently haha)

  29. ManU were absolutely irrisistable against Roma - an unbelievable performance. Carrick looks better and better in ManU colors.
A wonderful response from the team after two losses.
Credit to Roma players for continuing to play through a devastating loss - a good lesson in how to take a defeat for other teams.

  30. April 11, 2007plastic scouser

well, we have to put it all into context. Manure played very well, but Roma are an ageing team with a slow defence and they have won feck all. They only have one decent player in Totti and he is well past it. They were lucky to get past lyon (admittedly just like psv were lucky to get past arsenal). They are not a great side either. What is obvious from the english teams performances in europe is that the premiership is the strongest league in the world.

  31. joninjapan - Fletcher’s best game this season was against Liverpool at Old Trafford. Go watch it again, you’ll know what Fletcher is all about.

PS - keep baiting, someone will take it :)

  32. what do you reckon about de rossi as a possible alternative to owen hargreaves this summer he didnt have the best of games against united but definityly has the abilty to cut at united.

who would you rather unnited signed this summer
    nani or simao

  33. Manchester United is the best command in this word and galaxy.
Keep a good spear. Manchester - CHAMPION

  34. Nani, Hargreaves

    Or Bale, Hargreaves

and play Evra / Bale on the left as a backup to Giggsy :)

  35. Ed Harrison made a good comment. I think Roma should be congratulated for the way they took it. They must have felt really down, but they still went at it…and with no fighting. Good sportsmanship.

  36. April 11, 2007joninjapan

    Ahmed

haha are you talking about the goal where he jumped infront of giggs to head into goal (might not have been giggs.. but the other player would have definetly scored if fletcher wasn’t there)

i’d get more responses if i called Ronaldo a diver haha butI’m sticking to my guns. . fletcher is shite

of course even richardson on a good day cant compare to what fletcher brings to ManU hahaha

  37. April 11, 2007joninjapan

haha i meant to say “of course, even on his best day, richardson can’t hold a candle to fletcher” haha

  38. actually i have not seen nani play….any clips of his?

  39. joninjapan - I’m talking about how Fletcher dominated Alonso at Old Trafford.
  40. What Man U achieved is a bit too convenient? Roma were defending with two players at times and just allowed too much width and depth for Man u!! Is this a great Man U performance?? If the opponent sleeps, and the other capitalizes, it is hard to see how a team like Manchester cannot win. When I saw 3 goals conceded in less than 10 minutes, 7-0 became obvious to me, though it was 7-1. Only someone stupid regards them as 7 great goals considering Manu U needed no effort to round past Roma defence or faced any opposition. Man U had what, 11 or so shots and socred 7 against Roma, too convenient isn’t it??

Roma scored the best goal of those 8 from a quality strike that DDR made with his back to goal. Roma’s tactics was a complete failure right from the outset. Once man u were a man down in the 1st leg, why not destroy man u then?? Spaletti is an italian idiot who is not even fit to coach 6 year olds!!!

Think closely, alan smith not even a regular scoring goals, cristiano ronaldo, a player who is absent in CL history scores the first few goals of his career in CL, and wayne rooney a player who hadn’t scored since, what, september 2004, scores against roma, and evra fits in as right back and defeats doni as well. Cmon!!!

Man U won only because Roma allowed them to. Serie A teams are very good and clearly some folks are now believing otherwise of a result that Roma forced and not Man U!! Maybe it is divine retibution for the way english fans were treated. No matter how much anyone calls England or English football the best in the world, they never will be.

Maybe it will be an all english final, but just go back to those videos and watch those fluke and crappy goals manu, liverpool and chelsea have scored in their progress. english teams have a lot of luck and this is their success story.

I don’t intend to disrespect england or its football, but they are simply not as good as european opponents.

  41. Yea Rite!!!…ppl can go scuddling about with their opinions…but the gams is done and its over… verdict : MANCHESTER UNITED IS THE BEST!!! ..PERIOD!

  42. Manchester United rules!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  43. Go on manchester united!MU is the best!!!!!!!!Ilove MU so much!!!!!!!!!!

  44. MAn Utd are not the best because of one night. that makes them the worse for being hammered 3-0 by AC, and if you deserved to win 7-1, they should of won 10-0 because they were better then you were on this night, also just because of 2 doni errors you went 2-0 up. and if your not scoring Sir rednose shits himdelf and you lose.

  45. ronaldo is the best player in the world man u should repect that and use him well
