Manchester City new home kit – 2007/2008

Manchester City have a new home shirt available for the forthcoming season thanks to Le Coq Sportif in a 4-year sponsorship deal that will net them £10m.

The new Manchester City home kit is a departure from traditional EPL kits – that is, you’re not likely to see a thin-striped shirt on a football field, now are you?

Overall, I think the new Manchester City kit is well done and the Man City crest and sponsor name are well-balanced.

More from the Manchester City official site:

Manchester City Football Club is delighted to announce a record breaking four-year deal with Le Coq Sportif to be the Club’s new Official Technical Kit Sponsor.

With prices of the new shirt starting at less than £30 for adults and £19 for juniors, with further discounts available for Seasoncard holders, the new kit signifies not only the best priced merchandise in the Premiership, but also the lowest at Manchester City for more than 15 years.

This exciting new deal sees the French-based sportswear manufacturer take up exclusive rights to provide the Club’s First Team, Reserve and Academy kits.

Additionally, the agreement brings with it a unique three brand arrangement in which iconic sporting and fashion brands Sergio Tacchini and Ecko combine with Le Coq Sportif under the brand house Focus Group, to supply premium leisure and travel wear to the Club’s players.

The Le Coq Sportif logo and the stripes on the front look awful. The material is all shiny and looks very cheap. Makes me glad I’m a united fan.

I’m glad you’re a United fan Lewis. You sound like a right tosser.
I’m not so sure about it myself though. The Loq Sportif thing is in a stupid place, and god knows why they didn’t put the sleeves out on the picture so it looks like it would with someone wearing it.

I like it. The placing of the LeCog logo is eye catching. I think the other sponsors will soon catch up to this.

With the shirt displayed thus, it looks like it’s cut for those people with the developmental disorder that makes them have tiny, Tyrannosaur-like arms.

Like Arjen Robben, he’s one. But he doesn’t play for City…?

Its really sad that an article on a new football shirt has gone into a pointless discussion about whos not won anything for years. concentrate on your own club. I have seen different pictures of the shirt and it seems to change. One picture i have seen it looks dull, and on this photo it seems shiny. still dont like it though

im not to sure about it really its quite nice but might be a bit to shiny and its a cheap make so the dirty reds can jus comment on that but it might look good in a full kit

This looks like a shirt designed for a grown man with baby arms.

I like the retro look, though the lecoq logo and the sponsor looks awful, would have been better if they were white too, and placed in a better place. the sponsor is far too big and bold.
I myself am a city supporter and will in no doubt be getting one on launch day, i just wish the designers would design a shirt that is worthy of the club.

I dont see why you all hate it, Itys not us good as us Gunners’ Kits but still is pretty good looking.
I like the stripes, But the placing of the Le Coq logo should be some where better.
Also I reckkon Le Coq should have a new logo.
One that sais LE COQ with a Small SQUARE with a COCK in it!
Nice kit “The Dick” (my emglish translation of le coq”

Funny that, because i could swear Nike,Umbro and Puma have all done it previously. Its a cheap and nasty shirt, in which case it should be popular with the blue half of manchester.

I actually think it’s a pretty classy kit. The only beef that I have, as a kit fan, is the logo on the right shoulder. I think it demeans the shirt.

Plus, with that deal for other clothing lines, there’s going to be some great clothing and merchandise pouring onto the market with the Man City crest and name all over them.

The new kit looks pretty smart but im not sure about the lecoqsportif sponsor…It would look alot better if it was a nike logo on the sleeve…CITY TILL I DIE!!!

I agree with the shorts bit. We should only wear blue shorts for the derby at swampland.

Whats the new away shirt like, I haven’t seen it

As a united fan, the shirt seems ok and its gud to see a shirt design that isnt nike, adidas or umbro.

still tip them for relagation tho’

    sorry :-)

Same shirt as the home shirt but purple, I personally love them both, i’d criticise last seasons United shirts but I seriously have more of a life.

To be honest it isnt the best city had and its probably the worst shirt of all premiership clubs (possibly Chelsea though) Im a brummie fan and I personally hated it when we got sponsored by Le coq sportif, they make cheap looking shirts!

Actually if you look at the MCFC website, the flashbox advert for the new kit makes it look not so bad. It’s certainly alot better lookin than the picture above. As a Roma fan tho I have seen some really nice shirts and some God awful ones so this isn’t too bad. I think it looks better than some of the other prem clubs new kits. I’m not mad keen on the newcastle shirt or the spurs away

This is actually a really original design seeing as all the other shirts by nike, adidas and umbro have the exact same template. I have it and wear it lots as its a really comfortable and good looking kit. As for united fans shut up cos ure kit at the moment is awful!
