When David Moyes arrived in Manchester it came with an air of hope that he could continue along the same path of success that had been enjoyed by fellow Scotsman, Alex Ferguson, for many years preceding. This didn’t quite pan out the way it had been hoped, with not even the minimum standards being met and Moyes was shown the door even before completing a single season.

Now it seems Moyes may not be the only inflow from Everton that will be spinning right back around and departing from Old Trafford before ever becoming a success there: midfield bombshell Marouane Fellaini is looking set to be sold on, maybe even at around HALF the price they paid for him.

Moyes was a long time admirer of Fellaini at Everton, purchasing him from Standard Liège and rating him “as good as anyone in the [Premier] League” during their time together there. Then purchasing him again in his first transfer window, leaving it very late and finally getting the deal sealed right as the window was about to close.

Things didn’t work out as planned for the Belgian either, seeing his form decline, his goalscoring disappear, his own fans turn against him and even seeing red in the Champions League. During this time he only managed 16 appearances, thanks in part to injuries, but more to his failure to recreate what made him a fan-favorite down the road in Merseyside. Fellaini failed to hit the back of the net even once for Manchester, something he was renowned for at Everton; striking fear into the hearts of even top defenders, when they saw him lurking in and around the box.

Now it seems it will not be discovered whether it was just a learning curve year and the best is still to come for Fellaini in the colors of the Red Devils, as new manager Louis Van Gaal is reported to not favor the midfielder. Even Old Trafford legend Paul Scholes has spoken out about the weakness in that area of the pitch and suggested three-times Bundesliga title winner and Champions League winner, Toni Kroos, should be brought in to fill the void of dominance for United in the middle of the park. Kroos would cost United significantly more than the £15m they look set to recoup for Fellaini, who is rumored to be wanted back by former employers, Everton, amongst others.

With the Belgian having an almost 50%-off sticker slapped on him, he will be hotly contested in the marketplace, with plenty of clubs fancying their chances of recapturing the form that made Fellaini a United target originally.
