French club Lyon have released an official statement confirming that Arsenal have submitted a 35 million Euros offer for Alexandre Lacazette.

The Ligue 1 outfit also confirmed that the bid has been rejected and they have not received any offer in the region of 48 million Euros from the Gunners as reported by the media earlier.

Arsenal are desperate to add some cutting edge upfront and Lacazette could be a perfect addition to Wenger’s side.

However, it is clear now that Lyon will not be forced to sell for a reasonable price. It will be interesting to see if Arsenal come back with an improved offer now.

The statement from Lyon also states that Lacazette is irreplaceable and that the club will not sell him this summer at any price.

Lacazette can operate as the number nine or a wide forward because of his pace and flair. The French international fits into Arsenal’s style of football and would add much needed sharpness in front of the goal.

The Lyon striker is very highly rated across Europe and has bagged 76 goals for the French side in the last three seasons. Last month, there were reports that Wenger met with the player’s representatives in France.

Arsenal have also been linked with the talented young forward Ben Yedder this summer.

Chelsea have also been monitoring Lacazette and were linked with him earlier this year when Hazard seemed to be heading to Real Madrid.
