Van Gaal wants €45m midfield sensation at Manchester United

For a while it seemed like Manchester United had lost all interest in Portugal midfielder William Carvalho. Readers of Soccerlens might be knowing that we have covered this saga extensively, and you only need to google it to find plethora of articles written by us throughout the past one year.

The interest in the 22-year-old highly rated defensive midfielder intensified under former United manager David Moyes. United scouts had watched him for umpteenth times last season and needless to say they were pretty impressed as well. After all, this is about a player, who is arguably the best midfielder in the Portuguese league by a country mile.

Following the appointment of new manager Louis van Gaal that interest somewhat had died down. However, recently the interest have been rekindled after Sporting hinted the midfielder could leave the club this summer

It was reported earlier this month that Manchester United’s representatives were in Portugal to conclude a deal for the €45m midfield sensation.

“It’s not like the old days when players left Sporting at any price. We are not concerned with William Carvalho because we have alternatives, who will want to play as well,” said Sporting’s director of football Augusto Ignacio.

“The termination clause ensures a great deal to Sporting. I am very pleased with the negotiations.”

“It is not easy to negotiate for players, you need to be very shrewd but Sporting have a president who knows how to negotiate with anyone and what is best for the club,” Sporting chief added.

Now A Bola today reports that Louis van Gaal has urged the United hierarchy to sign Carvalho, though it remains to be seen whether they meet the player’s €45m buy-out clause or not.

  1. William Carvalho – Cannot understand what are UTD/LVG waiting for to offer right away the BUY-OUT clause.
Perhaps they are waiting for MOURINHO to snif around and OFFER straight away the but-out clause.
Then it will be too late. Always remember the POGBA case when HE was still at UTD.

  2. William not worth more than 15m,he is heavy, slow but make no mistake about it, he has good defensive qualities but very little going forward. Yaya on the other hand has both, when you play Mancity, its like you are playing 12 men, infact 13 men because Aguero apart from scoring like RVP does, he also dribbles, just like Suarez. These players ie Aguero, Yaya, Suarez are 2 in 1

    • Hey!!!what is the rubbish u saying???what of the likes of rooney???think before u type n not otherwise

  3. United have to activate his buy-out close as quickly as possible and land him.

  4. If we sure the player is good, then what are we waiting for? Let’s go for him immidiately.

  5. Why the waste of time Man U. Ok I see, he isn’t english no wonder the delay. Guess united are still scouting around the uk to get mediocre players to further sink the reputation of the club deep down in shame.. Nonsense

  6. I wonder why its taking Ed a long time to sign him if he’s good. Av not seen him play.

  7. carvalho, strooman, Humels, Rodrigues, Di Maria, Vidal, Robben.. every player is linked to Man u.. m tired of rubbish n nothing is being don
