Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has said that he wants the club’s record signing Angel di Maria to stay at Old Trafford, but at the same would be listening to offers if the Argentine wants to leave.

Di Maria joined United for a British record transfer fee of £59.7m but has failed to live up to the expectations in his first season.

However, it’s not the performance on pitch that leaves Di Maria insecure in England. The Argentine is not happy with the security in England, after his £4m Cheshire village of Prestbury was raided in late January.

Van Gaal says he wants his star winger to stay at the club, but also admits that he would also consider the commercial interests.

“Will he be here next season? As a manager, you can never say no or yes because the player at the end shall always decide, but I don’t think he shall move,” said the Dutchman, quoted by The Mirror.

“Despite his incident with his wife at home, he is very pleased to be here at Manchester United.”

“A player is not just a man who kicks the ball from A to B. Also, his environment is influencing him. So, I shall always be open for that conversation, but I know also the commercial interests of the club and we have to respect that.”

Di Maria, who earns a reported wage of  £280,000-a-week has scored four goals this season and has eight assists to his name.
