Premier League, 2015-16
Date: Saturday, 26 September, 2015
Time: 15:00 BST
Venue: Anfield, Liverpool

After a string of poor performances in all competitions, Liverpool managed to get a victory that too by a whisker. Debutant Adam Bogdan made a mistake, which allowed Carlisle United to come back in the Capital One Cup third round clash.

The match ended in a 1-1 draw and the scoreline was unchanged even after the extra time. This forced the match to be decided on penalty shootout. It was Bogdan again who managed to turn things around.

The Hungary international, who made a mistake earlier in the game and was the hero in the end. The 27-year-old saved three out of the five penalties to send Liverpool through to the fourth round of the competition.

That victory also helped Brendan Rodgers end a five match winless streak. It should relieve pressure of the former Swansea manager’s shoulders as he looks to win the next two matches at home, starting against Villa.

Villa also progressed to the fourth round of the Capital One Cup after a 1-0 victory over Birmingham City. It will be for the first time striker Christian Benteke could feature against his former club, if he is declared fit. However, reports suggest the Belgium international could be out of action for the clash against his former club.

Rodgers and Liverpool will be looking for nothing less than a win as they search for their third league win this season.
