Liverpool transfer watch - Malouda, Henry and the rest
So far, Liverpool’s focus has been to secure their star players on lucrative long-term contracts. First it was club icons Jamie Carragher and Steven Gerrard, and now Reina and Alonso have also committed themselves to long-term contracts with Liverpool.
The press has been on Liverpool’s case though, chiding them for not having made any transfer moves - I think that’s quite unfair, considering that June has just started and the Spanish League is still in action. If Liverpool are going to conduct any major transfers, they will do them towards the end of June and beginning of July.
There has been news coming out of Lyon that Liverpool and Chelsea have been in touch with Malouda’s agent and Lyon, but I don’t think Liverpool have Chelsea to worry about this summer - there’s a good chance that Chelsea are looking to bring in players cheaply, and they already have brought in support for the one position they need most help in - a striker. With Ben Sahar doing well in the chances he’s got and Shevchenko expected to improve, Chelsea do have 3 strikers covering for the ANC and their immediate concerns are for a central defender (and perhaps a right-back), which Alex could fill.
In all likelihood, Chelsea’s contact with Malouda (if real) is a precautionary measure in case Robben rejects his new contract and decides to move away.
Liverpool are probably more determined of the two Premiership sides to improve this summer and they have the cash to splash as well. However, Malouda might decide to wait for Chelsea before agreeing to anything, so the Malouda transfer to Liverpool could depend on Robben’s future at Chelsea.
There was some silly rumour circulated a couple of days back about Henry moving to Liverpool. I don’t think Arsenal will ever make the mistake of selling their best player (or one of their best) to a direct title rival. This isn’t like United selling Veron to Chelsea - they probably bit Chelsea’s hand off for that 15m - it’s about selling their top player, and that’s not going to happen.
Will Henry move? I don’t know, although I still think he should have been moved on last summer. This year he’s not going to command a 20m+ transfer fee, and in any case if it’s going to happen Arsenal will have to find cover for him so it will happen quickly, if at all (and I doubt it will happen).
So, apart from the usual - Eto’o / Villa to Liverpool rumours…

This Henry to Liverpool gig is downright odd. I just can’t see who in their right mind would put money on such a bet.
Rafa wants a big list of players to choose for every game. He kept on experimenting this whole year, played gerrard wherever he felt like,rotated his strikers and finally got his combination wrong for the champions league final(why oh why didnt he play bellamy, who is fast and who could have taken milan’s aging defence, what happened to sissoko?). Now he wants a bigger list(of bigger players) to do the same……….
Yeah this Henry rumour is just about on the limits of credulity.

All this talk about henry comeing to liverpool might not be as bull **** as u think i live in liverpool and know a few of the peopele who work inside liverpool and a fact that has been sed is that henry was at melwood(liverpool’s training ground) now when i heard this i was thinking what u propbaly are now! but my doubts were messed with agen when a frend who is in merseyside police told me that they had been put on alert because henry was in the wirrul looksin at propaty so maybe this henry thing is not as make belive as u hope it is! and if any team can afford to sell a big player it arsnel with the youth they have comeing threw!
The biggest mistake Rafa made was giving Sissoko a new contract. Benitez could have milked (according to reports) 15mill pounds out of the kid, and he’s horrible to boot!! Gives the ball away every time he gets it, and IMO he’s the worst diver in the PL!! (yes, above Ronaldo even!)That 15mill would have gone a long ways for Liv’pool…just think: lose Momo, and gain Quaresma! What a deal.
There are some reports (in the Daily mail) tonight that United might go for a cheeky loan bid for Tevez. I know its not the most reliable source and he’s not wholly what we need but it would be interesting.

Im a massive Arsenal fam, But I think Henry will move, I dont want this to happen but im sure that it will. I thunk he will go to Barca hes a top player and to be fair should be at the top club.

no chance of henry at liverpool when he could go to barcalona or real.liverpools lack of transfer action is worrying lots of talk little action, looks like another disapointing season coming up…..should have sold sissiko he does loss the ball to much not sure how he is being compared to patrick veria totaly different class
sissoko is quality..thts why clubs would spend 15mil on him! rafa is hangin on 2 him because hes guna be an amazing midfield player and his transfer fee will grow! i dont think tevez or eto will come. henry was seen at melwood but i still think thts not happening. i think its all a cover so rafa can talk to players like torres and villa.

Liverpol will be bringing in a winger,most probably Simao or Malouda. Young players from both the EPL and Spanish Liga. A star striker is likely to come, either Eto’o or Torres.
this is all bullshit. Im a massive liverpool fan. i wont believe any of this until the deals are sealed and delivered. I do think that benitez will get a star striker. Plenty of time to land one. Most likely spanish or argentinean. i think eto would be a massive gamble. no other cameroon players at liverpool. and hes not suited to premier league. Torres and Villa would be ideal. Sissoko will leave hopefully and they should keep bellamy. He’s so quick and with a bit of confidence he’ll dominate!

I do agree that Quaresma would be a quailty signing as he is maybe better than Ronaldo but layoff Momo hes awesome.

I think that Liverpool should care for the young players , for example Agger , it will be a waste of money , Liver doesn’t need all those heavy weight stars
