Liverpool Transfer News: Klopp targets Mario Gotze, Latest on Dennis Praet

Robert Lewandowski and Mario Gotze

Liverpool are plotting an audacious move for Bayern Munich’s World Cup winning attacking midfielder Mario Gotze.

Ever since Jurgen Klopp has taken charge of Liverpool, the Reds have been frequently linked with top Bundesliga players, and it was only a matter of time for Gotze to be linked with the Reds.

Gotze, the 23-year-old German attacking midfielder, is a world class player, and surely getting him from Bayern Munich would be special.

According to German tabloid Bild, Jurgen Klopp has turned his attention towards Gotze, who played under him at Dortmund.

Any transfer move in January in definitely out of question, as the player is currently injured for at least 12 weeks.

Gotze has a contract at Bayern till 2017, and would cost more than €50m.

The German midfielder sees Klopp as his idol figure and would love to play under him again and test himself at a different league.

Secondly, at Liverpool, Gotze could be the central figure and Klopp could build a team around him.

Most importantly, he may not be given a bigger role in the team under Carlo Ancelotti, just a possibility – a new manager comes with new ideas, and Gotze might not fit his plans.

Liverpool have the money and ambition (should they finish in top four and secure a place for the champions League, it’s an added bonus) to pay €50m for him. It sound fanciful, pipe dream may be, but the even the mere thought of Gotze playing for Liverpool is too tantalizing to reject it outright.

Liverpool interested in Dennis Praet

Liverpool are also showing an interest in signing Anderlecht midfielder Dennis Praet.

The 21-year-old has been a reported target of Serie A giants Fiorentina. The Viola have contacted the Belgian club regarding a possible move for Praet, but were put off by Anderlecht’s €30m valuation for him.

Liverpool is seen as the main competitor for Fiorentina, but it is highly unlikely the Reds will spend such a hefty transfer fee on an unproven young talent in the January transfer window.
