Liverpool to choose from Heskey, Toni and Nistelrooy
It is being widely reported in the English media that Liverpool are once again in the hunt for Emile Heskey, the Aston Villa and England striker.
The former Red has been linked on and off with a return to Anfield over the past 12 months, and The Mirror claims that Rafael Benitez is eager to bring him in this winter as an alternative – or partner – to Fernando Torres.
However, ‘El Nino’ himself recently outlined the problems the Merseyside outfit face in snaring the right players, the chief concern at the moment being finances.
While the board has backed Benitez in the midst what is fast becoming a horror campaign, The Times reports that the Spanish tactician must sell before he can buy.
Ryan Babel, Andriy Voronin, Andrea Dossena and Philipp Degen are all understood to be hovering near the exit door, all four having failed to make their mark in the Premier League so far.
Bayern Munich’s Luca Toni and Real Madrid’s Ruud van Nistelrooy are also reported to be on Liverpool’s radar.

Mmmmm…Heskey or van Nistelrooy? That’s a tough one. Either a proven goal machine or a big lump that doesn’t know where the goal is!

December 23rd, 2009 @ 10:55Oh, don’t get me started… I think the first thing the Reds neeed to do is get rid of Rafa, but not anytime soon with his multi-yeart gig. The second thing they need to do is get someone who can handle the back line. It’s a sieve back there! No defensive leadership!
Next. get rid of Babel – useless. Get rid of Voronin – even more useless. I think the best of the three strikers would be Toni. I love Ruud, but he’s a bit too old to play at Anfield for a few years. Heskey… all show, no go.
Pull the trigger, will ya Rafa. Stop the bleeding!
December 23rd, 2009 @ 13:32If you’re going to bring in a crap player like Heskey to partner Torres up front, why not just stick Kuyt up there seeing that he would be a million times better than Heskey in every department. As for Toni, all I’ve seen from him lately is complaining and more importantly not scoring goals. Ruud would be great even though hes getting old atleast he can score.

December 24th, 2009 @ 16:16There’s no way possible for all 3 to come. it can’t be both Ruud and Toni either. Ruud’s wages are much too high- we could pay as you play deal but kinda unlikely. Toni absolutely cuz he’ll be freed up and he’s cheaper than Ruud as in wages. Heskey another great idea, but idk if we can afford him as well. if we sell our wingers Babel and possibly Riera, we have a chance for Juan Mata. Some have talked about Krasic, but Moscow aren’t going to let him w/out a high fee. Both are fantastic, but its hard to see which will be bidded on.
So all the fans can do is just wait and see what the outcome will be.
