Liverpool Target Lucas Digne Closing In On Roma Move

Liverpool target and Paris Saint-Germain defender Lucas Digne is set for a loan move to Italian outfit AS Roma, according to French daily Le Parisien.

According to the paper, an agreement between the French giants and the Italian capital outfit has been reached for a loan deal, and Digne is expected to undergo medical at Roma next week.

However, PSG will not sanction a move for the French international before they find a proper replacement, which they have identified as Monaco’s Layvin Kurzawa.

Kurzawa is one of the most highly rated left-backs around, and has started the 2015/16 season with a bang. The 22-year-old has scored in each of Monaco’s three competitive games so far in the new campaign and netted the winner in Le Rougue et Blancs’ Ligue 1 opener against Nice last weekend.

Monaco are firm on their stance over Kurzawa and are unwilling to let him leave on the cheap for their domestic rivals PSG. They have set a price tag of €20m for the youngster, who is also a French international.

Digne’s move to Rome will provide a blow to Liverpool, who have been tracking the 22-year-old throughout the summer, with reports that PSG allowed the Anfield club to start negotiations with the full-back’s agent last month.

The Reds started last weekend’s Premier League game against Stoke City without a left-footed defender. They are keen to add more depth to their left side of defence with only Alberto Moreno as the only specialist left-back in the side, and Jose Enrique being frozen out.
