It is believed that the Wearside club are desperate to bring Borini on a permanent deal to the Stadium of Light. The 23 year old dazzled under manager Gus Poyet as the Black Cats staved off relegation from a tricky position from the foot of the Premier League table last season.

The report claims that Liverpool want £12.5m for Borini while Sunderland have offered £2m in bonuses apart from the £8m direct cash payment.

Borini had earlier signed for Liverpool from Italian giants Roma for £11m but had failed to muster up a starting eleven spot for the Merseyside giants.

However he was a bit hit with the Black Cats after being sent on loan and his dazzling performance won him the club’s young player of the year. Sunderland would look to complete the deal as quickly as possible as it is believed that Borini is high on the transfer wishlist of Gus Poyet for the summer.
