Liverpool striker Divock Origi has stressed the importance of switching focus from the club’s weekend defeat to Manchester United to their Europa League group stage clash against Ligue 1 outfit Bordeaux.

Origi made his first appearance in the Premier League as he was thrown into the deep end for the final quarter hour with the Reds trailing 2-0. But the Belgian failed to inspire his side as they succumbed to their second consecutive loss of the season, ultimately losing 3-1.

But Origi is keen to put the disappointment of the loss behind him as the Reds prepare for a trip to France to square off against Bordeaux, who themselves have had a start to forget in Ligue 1.

“We’re all professionals so we’ll have to make the switch [in focus],” Origi said to Liverpool’s official website.

“We’re all motivated to get a good result in Bordeaux. It will be on us to prepare well in training and be ready for the game.”

Origi will be in contention to make his first start for Liverpool as manager Brendan Rodgers will look to rest his key players for what will be their start of the Europa League 2015/16 season. The Reds can ill-afford another loss when Norwich are the visitors to Anfield next Sunday.

The game at the Nouveau Stade de Bordeaux on Thursday night will be the first time the new stadium will host a European tie, and Liverpool and Origi will look to etch their names in the history books with a good result, which is far from a given with the current state of the club.
