Liverpool captain and legend Steven Gerrard could make a shock move to Major League Soccer in the summer, according to reports.

Reliable Italian football journalist Gianluca Di Marzio has broke the news that David Beckham’s former side Los Angeles Galaxy are interested in bringing the former England captain to the USA when his contract expires at the end of this season.

Di Marzio says that LA Galaxy are making “concrete steps” to bring the 34-year old to California in the summer.

Steven Gerrard has been in and out of the Liverpool team in recent weeks and there have even been suggestions that he has fallen out with manager Brendan Rodgers.

The Liverpool legend has previously stated that he rejected to join Real Madrid years ago to stay with the love of his life.  To date, he has been a one-club man through his career.

Liverpool are down in eighth position after today’s 2-2 draw with Leicester City, some seven points out of the UEFA Champions League places.

The Reds were eliminated in the Champions League group stage this season but are in the knockout rounds of the Europa League.

Steven Gerrard has made 494 Premier League appearances for Liverpool, scoring 116 goals.  He has captained both the club and England, making 114 international appearances before retiring after a dreadful World Cup last summer in Brazil.

LA Galaxy currently have former Liverpool player Robbie Keane on their books.
