Liverpool speed up the chase to sign €20m defender

Share

It seems like Liverpool are desperate to land a solid left-back in the summer. The Reds were heavily linked with a move for Sevilla’s Alberto Moreno and although they retain the interest, but are unwilling to match the price asked by the Andalusian club.

Sevilla have made it clear that any potential buyer will have to pay Moreno’s asking price, which Liverpool feel the price-tag is too much for the 21-year-old defender.

As a result of which, they have shifted their attention elsewhere. The Merseyside giants have followed Marcos Rojo for the past few months and now are looking to give that interest a more concrete shape by lodging a formal offer for the highly rated Sporting defender.

According to Portugal newspaper O Jogo, Liverpool are ready to speed up the chase to sign Rojo and are willing to pay €20m to secure his services.

Rojo’s market value has hiked up during the World Cup and Sporting and the Doyen Group, who co-own the player, want to wait until after the World Cup so that they can extract maximum price from this deal. Sporting only own 25% of his economic rights while the Doyen group owns the rest.

  1. That would be a great signing.

    • Not for €20 Million Euros it won’t,we our paying astronomical prices for average at best players ( Lallana doesn’t score or assist enough, too warrant a £25.000.000 Million Price tag ) And he’s had one half decent season, this will cost liverpool next season when we fail too qualify for the Champions League…LACK OF AMBITION,you can’t buy success on a shoestring, this isn’t Germany where only Bayern and Dortmund are competitive,we have at least 7 or 8 teams capable too get Champions League place…Assaidi Allen Borini Aspas Alberto Ilori Sakho Mignolet is showing a lack of ambition…

      • So our this seasons signings of a 32 year old journeyman / A Turkish / German / And a one season wonder chump…ALL BECAUSE THE WONT PAY DECENT WAGES !!!

      • How many of those player you just mentioned play first team football week in week out for Liverpool? Sakho’s World Cup form has been good.

    • Liverpool do need to strentern the backline.Last seasonit that realy show that the back line was not up to standard. So can youn please see that liverpool do sign more defence players as they do into the midfield and as fowords.

  2. Hopefully, €20m will convince them to sell….tis amount for the next few years will definitely be worth paying…
