@ PlastisScouser:

"no class or dignity in defeat"

Perhaps you could teach Massimo something about that; seems to me you have a lot of experience this season in dealing with defeats :)

Babel is still very raw and quite frankly looks awkward on the ball. I guess it will take time for him to realise his potential. Clearly. Should he operate in his natural position as a striker on a reguular basis from next season, most Liverpool fans will be happy.

Lucas is again, much like Babel, quite raw. Ironic therefore that both are internationals with enough experience given their respective ages. At the moment Lucas fleets in and out of games with alarming regularity. Its up to him to take more responsibility during games and not shy away in the presence of Gerrad and Mascherano.

I can't not see Liverpool scoring in the return leg at the San Siro, especially with the enforced absences of Materazzi and Cordoba. Crouch and Torres will most likely profit.

Our path to the final should be made all the more clearer, at least theoretically, if Schalke and Roma progess beyond their counter-parts. Of course in that situation the draw would have to be very kind to Liverpool, but as a kopite, heres hoping.

I think you are more or less spot on. The red card was very harsh, I felt the second yellow being completely undeserved. It was a free kick and no more. The handball incident though involving Vieira was a penalty though in my opinion.

I don't think this article is that biased against Liverpool. It sounds pretty reasonable to me. This Daily Mail article says pretty much the same about Torres diving. From what I saw Matarazzi did tug his shoulder but Torres fell long after he stopped pulling!

And the "handball" was definitely 50/50. Viera instinctively put his hand to his face. If it had been given I don't think Inter could complain. The (lack of) reaction of the Liverpool players tells you more that it wasn't obvious than it does about the good nature of the players.
It looks like yet again Liverpool have raised their game like a Bolton or West Ham against Man Utd. Matarazzi was a fool and Liverpool rode their luck in that they got to play probably Europe's best team with 10 men for an hour. Credit to them that they peppered the goal and it eventually paid off. I imagine the rest of Europe's big teams are rubbing their hands hoping Inter get knocked out.

Bad Ahmed.
Shame, the LFC fans deserve this victory (even though I didn't watch the game and cannot comment on it). After the crap they went through lately, I think the least we can do is belittle their victory.

Maybe now with nothing to play for at home, they might realistically feature again in another UCL final? (Hope we meet you there).

Well done LFC!

I think that Liverpool won thanks to fantastic motivation and support. Clubs without crowd have a much harder job to do. For example Valencia was criticized by fans, main problem is lack of motivation, all players are professionals without emotions to the club and without support they suffer.

On the other hand spirited Gerrard and fans makes results even a Liverpool form isn't on high level.

I thought the sending off was a bit harsh, but the ref applied the letter of the law. It was only a matter of time before he got himself sent off anyway. I was going to say that the ref was a 'homer' but then he ruined that by turning down the blatant penalty against Vierra.

Yes, Inter only had ten men, yes, losing Cordoba was a turning point, yes, I still don't understand why Rafa plays Kuyt (I know he scored!) and Lucas, and doesn't play Crouch but lets not take anything away from the reds, this was a good performance and a great result.

I have been critical of Rafa and of Gerrard. Credit where it is due, they did well last night. Great goal by Gerrard, great win for Rafa.
