Liverpool open talks with Bayern to sign Xherdan Shaqiri

Share

Good news for the Liverpool fans. The Reds have stepped up the gas to sign the highly rated Bayern Munich winger Xherdan Shaqiri in the summer.

According to reliable Sky Italia journalist, Fabrizio Romano, Liverpool have opened talks with Bayern over the possibility of signing the €20m winger.

Shaqiri 34 Liverpool open talks with Bayern to sign €20m class winger

Last month, The Guardian published a story, where they claimed Liverpool are plotting an audacious move for Shaqiri. The 22-year-old is a regular for his Swiss national team but has failed to secure regular starting place in the star-studded Bayern team.

However, early this month, Swiss newspaper Blick claimed that Shaqiri might opt to stay at Bayern, beyond the summer.

The Swiss international is valued around €20m and I personally don’t think it will be difficult for Liverpool to lure him. First of all, money isn’t a problem for the Reds this season, with the club officials having promised to back manager Brendan Rodgers with enough funds (Champions League revenue plus TV money).

Secondly and most importantly, Liverpool can not only offer him regular games at Anfield but can lure him with the platform of Champions League football as well.

Liverpool already have signed Rickie Lambert from Southampton and has agreed a deal in principle for Emre Can as well. It will be a cracker of a signing, should Liverpool succeed in pulling off the deal for Shaqiri.

  1. shaqiri is a good player. pls BR sing are

  2. There is no doubt that while our attack was our strength we can not rely on such a small group of attacking players so Shaqiri would be a great addition, however Tello at £8m may be a better option, especially if we are still after Lallana.

  3. I think Shaqiri is a quality player and a much better signing than Lallana would be. Even if the money was the same, I would still opt for Shaqiri first. He is younger, has more CL and international experience as well. It would be a MAJOR signing to get him and a definite signal of intent too.
I would rather see Shaqiri and Bernard/Konoplyanka arrive for £30m or even Markovic over Lallana.
Lallana is a good player but WAY overpriced – £10m Max!
With Lambert, Can and hopefully Moreno signed, Shaqiri to follow, just need a CD and if we clear some of the dead wood, a few bonus signings too

    • Totally agreed, i like lallana a lot and he would fit. But for that Kind of money id be way happier seeing shaquiri or firmino in the next season Liverpool squad. Both very promising talents indeed!BR go for them!

    • AGREED!!

  4. Shaun,

Excellent post mate! Totally agree Tello would be an excellent addition unfortunately seems like Barca wont sell. Shaqiri is still proven and would give us a potent attacking threat.

  5. I am not so happy in some ways of our (Lfc) transfer business knowing too well how other big clubs use to hijack our target off our hands, for that we need to rap up our deals with CL in our hand.

  6. Yes it is true shaqiri will be a great addition but we need more experience and young midfielder like modric and Oscar in d middle and our back line two is no where to find

  7. CB and LB is our major problem. No defender to defend the goal we av already scored doesn’t make sense to me we all saw wat hapend against both norwich and palace

  8. Shaqiri is such a strong winger and has got pace too.. I would rather have him at 16-18m than take Lallana for 30m. He is still young and can make it hard for defenders. I wonder why LFC could still wait for the deal to be hijacked.

  9. Did anyone watch lallana last season. A small club with only a few quality players I.e lambert, shaw,Rodriguez. Lallana was fantastic he carried them like gerrard has carried lfc. Would be a excellent signing

  10. want us to sign shaqiri, lovren, caulker, n marcos Rojo

  11. Get him Liverpool.

  12. Mr william s i agreet your comment

  13. Shaqir is a strong winger, lfc sign him

  14. Mmmm, I fear lallana signing may turn out to be like ballack’s signing. Yes he carries southhamton buh I bet he can’t do dat @ liverpool. All d same for me he’s a good player, buh overpriced

  15. yes, he is good but will liverpool sign him? we have linked with many best players but we failed to sign them like Enrique M, Willian, Eriksen, Mohamed Salah, And Others But We Failed To Sign Them. And Am Wondering About Our Defanders If No Changes It Will Be A Big Problem. If God Is For Our Liverpool Who Will Be Our Against? You’ll Never loose Again!

  16. Lallana over shakiri

  17. I think konoplanka was fantastic and great winger .I rate him more than shaqiri.

  18. am nt happy with our club lfc cus we need big signing at least 2 or 3 old players midfielder like modric, mikel , or song, then diffender, like pepe, macelo, them may old we wil give them one or two years contract

  19. shaqiri is a good player but i prefer sanchez i would like to see players like modric and marcelo in lfc shirt. We have enough young players
