According to reports from English media outlet Mirror, Liverpool are looking to offer outcast Manchester City striker Stevan Jovetic an escape route in the summer to stay in the Premier League.

The 25 year old is set to leave the Etihad side in the summer after manager Manuel Pellegrini ditched the striker from City’s Champions League squad after the arrival of Wilfried Bony from Swansea in the January transfer window. The reports claims that Liverpool are now plotting a move for the the Montenegro international who joined City for £22m in the summer of 2013.

However, Inter Milan, Juventus and Fiorentina are also interested to take Jovetic back to Italy. The striker’s frequent injuries has hampered his career in England but he could be just the kind of player Liverpool would be well advised to buy.

Mario Balotelli has drawn blanks since moving to Anfield in the summer while Daniel Sturridge rightly requires a striker up front beside him. Rickie Lambert and Fabio Borini too aren’t up the mark and Jovetic would be amassive upgrade.

But the question is will City sell the striker to one of their direct domestic rivals?
