Liverpool needs to bring back 19-year old Suso
Suso has been putting in some extremely effective performances for Liverpool’s Under-21 side, which suggest it’s time for Brendan Rodgers to draft him back into the first team squad for the run in.
A mixture of poor form and fatigue seem to be the reasons he was originally dropped from the first team squad, after he was used by Rodgers through the early part of the season.
He’s featured in eight starts and four substitute appearances in the Premier League this season without any senior goals to his name just yet.
This combination of reasons saw him dropped to the Liverpool Development Squad where he has been producing some of his best form and the time seems to be right for Liverpool to bring him back into the first team squad.
They need to bring him back because he’s turning out man of the match performances and is in arguably better form than several of the players currently holding places in the senior side.
He also allows Rodgers to keep things fresh over the remaining games of the season. He’s had a break from the pressure and the physical demands of playing top flight football and warrants being drafted back in.
He offers Rodgers different options because he can play different roles in the Liverpool midfield. He has been used predominantly through the middle for the Development Squad, which means it’s no coincidence he’s been playing well.
However, he showed earlier in the season that he is a good alternative to use over on the left side of the pitch, providing competition to Stewart Downing.
He will also have a very deep entrenched determination to succeed and do well when he returns. He’ll almost want to make himself indispensable to the first team and that’s the sort of attitude that Liverpool need if they are going to fly into fourth place.
He offers Liverpool something they can never have enough of and that’s the ability to run at and scare defenders, which puts them onto the back foot and gives him more of a chance to be creative in the final third.
He was dropped, he’s learnt his lesson, he’s become a better player than the one at the start of the season and he’s ready for another crack at pleasing every fan in the Kop.
