Liverpool and Manchester United could be set to miss out on Ukrainian international star Yevhen Konoplyanka.

Reliable Italian football journalist Gianluca Di Marzio has reported that the agent of the Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk forward is in Italy for discussions over a transfer for his client.

The Ukrainian’s agent arrived in Milan yesterday to suggest either or both Internazionale or AC Milan are interested in the 24-year old.

Liverpool and Manchester United were both strongly linked with a move for Konoplyanka but the player remained in Ukraine at the end of the transfer window.

Despite his club topping the table in the Ukrainian Premier League after seven games it appears the player is seeking a move in January.  Dnipro are likely to be interested in selling the player in either of the next two transfer windows if they cannot get him to agree a new contract – Yevhen Konoplyanka’s current deal expires in 2015.

AS Roma were also linked with a move for the 36-time Ukraine international.

It is not yet known whether either Liverpool or Manchester United will try strike a deal in the coming days to prevent a deal being agreed with an Italian Serie A side before the transfer window opens in January.
