Liverpool in for Bellamy

After selling Morientes to Valencia and with Cisse breaking his leg, Liverpool have been short on strikers and are desperate to add to the front line (Crouch and Robbie Fowler will never strike fear into an opposition’s hearts, no matter how hard those two jokers try). Blackburn have allowed Benitez and crew to talk to Bellamy after they made a big enough bid for him.

Bellamy’s contract is believed to have a clause that states that if a Champions-League bound club comes in with an offer of more than 6 mil pounds, he should be allowed to talk to them.

Now that Liverpool have opened negotiations, it seems to be just a matter of time before Blackburn have to say goodbye to the striker who led them to a spot in the Uefa Cup.

Liverpool pushed United to the end for the second spot (and would have won the Premiership if you were to discount the matches played in August and September), and with Bellamy’s pace and goal-scoring record they will once again be gunning for the top spot. The only problem is, United, Chelsea and Arsenal are bound to be stronger next time around as well (although how United will improve with their current transfer dealings is beyond me), so Liverpool might need something more than Bellamy to help them out (especially as Hamann is set to leave as well).
