Liverpool finalising £35m move for star duo as new strikeforce takes shape

According to the BBC, Liverpool have agreed a £10m fee for Belgium striker Divock Origi, and are ‘in advanced talks’ with Benfica over a £25m move for attacker Lazar Markovic.

Origi, 19, has caught the eye in Brazil with a number of fine performances up top for Belgium, keeping Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku out of the side for their final two World Cup matches. A fee of £10m has been agreed, and Liverpool will now enter into personal talks with the young attacker, with Brendan Rodgers eager to make him the club’s fourth major summer signing after Rickie Lambert, Emre Can and Adam Lallana.

While a deal for Origi looks all but complete, Liverpool are also said to be closing in on Benfica’s Lazar Markovic, with the 20-year-old set to cost the Merseysiders £25m.

The current Liverpool splurge in the transfer market must signal the end of Luis Suarez’s career in England, with the disgraced Uruguayan heading towards a mammoth £60m-£70m move to La Liga giants Barcelona; and Rodgers seems to be pre-empting the move by moving fast to secure his top targets.

  1. I like the players Rogers has got, but what it shows to me is that in World terms we are not seen as a big club as otherwise we would be able to attract a few more established stars.

Even with the likes of Lallana and possibly Lovren, they are names that have impressed for 1, maybe 2 years in the Prem.

It would be good if we could secure 1 of the 3 left backs we’ve been linked with, yet I have a feeling we’ll settle with Bertrand who may well be good with us.

Shaqiri and Sanchez, another 2 bigger stars linked with Liverpool don’t look like they want to ply their trade at this great club.

I don’t think we Suarez money will go on a big star, but it may well invest is several young potentials, then we’ll need to trust the Manager that he can develop these players like he has Sturridge, Sterling, Flannaghan.

    • I agree with your post mate 😉 And I also think that the incompetent idiots ayre and committee haven’t a clue about buying and negotiating deals :- Assaidi Allen Borini Aspas Alberto Yesil Ilori WILL NEVER BE STARTERS !!! Sakho and Mignolet our liabilities, and Sturridge always misses at least 2 months of season due too injuries…WE SHOULD HAVE BOUGHT A WORLD CLASS HOLDING MIDFIELDER,THIS TRANSFER WINDOW…

      • Ian Ayre has been relieved of all his transfer duties. He’s CEO now. Rodgers can overrule the committee now as part of his new contract, so expect to see players Rodgers has faith in.

He clearly didn’t fancy Aspas, Alberto etc and didn’t make a fuss when they arrived and was happy to bench them for an entire season in protest to the rest of the committee.

He’s already been raving about Can, who I believe will become the World class DM you’re so keen on.

      • Why is every one so negative, we finished 2 points of the championship. Trust in Rodgers to build a team to win the premiership.

  2. BR is joking. CL is not for players under developement process. Pls don’t change the name LFC to SOUTHAMPTON FC. Thanks

  3. Adding Shaqiri and Sanchez will be so so fine and make us look serious for once. However, I am confident Brendan will be unique with the lads he is bringing in. We must send out a message to Suarez and rival clubs after our first five matches in the league. Long live LFC

  4. Yeah y’all are making sense, however, BR knows what he’s doing…. if he’s buying Lazar then it’s because he believes he can help him mature and produce results, frankly I’m fed up with Luis because of his childishness. I know BR and the lads will make us proud this season…. we may not win the league but whoever will will get a hiding from us. #LFCeternal.

  5. I’ve not noticed any of the top premiership teams going in for England player yet Rodgers has managed to spend over £30 mill on 2 already lol.None of our British players we’ve payed top money for have actually turned out great buys . Charley Adam ,downing. Carroll , Allen ,cole . Henderson has turned out not bad and has improved a bit but probably still not a £20 mill player yet. I have a slightly worrying stat for Lallana fans . He’s just had a good season with 9 goals and 5 assists but when we spent £20 mill on downing he had scored 7 goals and 9 assists yet came to us and got no goals and no assists the following season with us so it’s far from guaranteed he’ll end up worth the money we paid for him but we shall see . I find it interesting that all the top none British managers in the premiership are not buying English players. I wander why that is ?

    • Forgot to mention the one British player that had done very well for us do far which I’d Sturridge of course but that’s still a poor turn out 1 great buy out of about 7/8

  6. The comments from the know alls above make me sick. As the saying goes you can lead the horse to water but you can’t make it drink, the lure of the crime capital of Europe namely London is too much for the South American wannabe playboys, look at Suarez, for all his platitudes he has been biting his way out of his cage since he was signed, he never really wanted to play for Liverpool but did so to keep himself in the shop window.

  7. hi just wanted to say have faith in the gaffer.Rogers has turned player like Henderson into internationals and bought others on miles. we are Liverpool and this is anfield. st.john keegan Daglish barnes fowler owen sutaz we always find replacements.if they don’t want to sign for LFC its there loss.

  8. I think what we should concentrate on now is how to get a striking force that can replace our world class striker(suarez). BR Should pls put in more effort in landing sanchez, then we can bring in a centre defender!!!!!!

  9. Markovic can be a better replacement for Suarez.
I urge Brendan to sign him since he is still young and can play faster game than Suarez. He will make a better combination with sturridge. long live Liverpool fc long live Brendan Rogers.
