Liverpool Eye Move For Bayern Munich winger Xherdan Shaqiri
Following Chelsea’s announcement that they had agreed a deal for Basel winger Mohamed Salah, the rumour mill has started to churn out viable alternatives to the Egyptian for the seemingly beaten Liverpool.
Brendan Rodgers’ side seemed to be in pole position for the winger, and despite Rodgers’ words of defiance, the club are now being linked with a host of different options.
One such option is said to be Bayern Munich attacker Xherdan Shaqiri, with TuttoMercatoWeb claiming today that Liverpool are considering a January move for the player.
The 22-year-old Swiss international moved to the Allianz Arena in 2012, but has played a bit part role since, such has been the form of Arjen Robben and Ballon d’Or runner-up Franck Ribery.
“Nobody has called about Shaqiri. Right now there are no plans [to sell],” said Rummenigge last July,
“The coach is completely satisfied with him. I think we will go into the season with the current squad.”
A Liverpool move for the player would depend on whether Bayern would be willing to lower their valuation, which currently stands around the €20m mark, far above Brendan Rodgers’ ideal price-range.
What do you think? Is Shaqiri worth the money? Should Rodgers go for him? Let me know in the comments below…
