Liverpool Eye Move For Benfica midfielder Andre Gomes

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers admitted yesterday that the club has not admitted defeat in the race for Mohamed Salah, who is all set to join Chelsea, if the reports are to be believed.

The Reds manager is looking to bolster the squad in January with a need to reinforce the defensive midfield region is a top priority, especially now that Lucas Leiva is injured.

According to reports from The Sunday Times, Liverpool are showing great interest in Benfica midfielder Andre Gomes and Rodgers may look to sign him before the transfer deadline day.

The Portugal under 21-international is known for his excellent technical abilities and will be well suited to Liverpool’s possession oriented game.

Benfica are demanding £12.4m for the 20-year-old, whose opportunities at Benfica were limited by the rise of Nemanja Matic, who has joined Chelsea in the winter transfer window.

Liverpool were also interested in Yann M’Villa but the Reds have yet to make any formal offer for the French midfielder.

  1. Too many speculation of incoming players to liverpool, just hope lfc sign a defensive midfielder and a left back and then face the league squarely

  2. Lfc should sign a striker, so suarez can leave in the summer, let’s face it, lfc is just a shyte club that can’t compete with city or chelsea, suarez needs to go to bigger team that can challenge for the trophies like barca, bayern, real and psg, stay and be lfc legend? Gob, ian rush and fowler are being forgotten ulike manure cantona, beckam best and charlton. Geroid will suffer the same fate too cos he will finish his career with no pl title
