Liverpool will have been buoyed by the latest comments of Bayern Munich playmaker Xherdan Shaqiri, who claims to be an admirer of the Premier League.

The Reds, along with other European heavyweights, are thought to be interested in the Bayern Munich star, who has admitted that he would listen to offers coming from big clubs.

When asked about the speculations surrounding his future, he said as quoted by The Metro:

“When you hear these names, of course you have to listen to the offer, but there is nothing concrete.

“I cannot say anything to this. I am feeling good in Munich but as a player you have to listen, if one of these top clubs is interested.

“I hear the interest from Borussia Monchengladbach for the first time. You have to ask Gladbach. I cannot say anything.

“Bundesliga is the best league for me, but I also like the Premier League and Serie A. In Serie A many teams have developed well with nice players.”

The Swiss star has been used sparingly by Pep Guardiola this season, and with Bayern possessing an avalanche of star midfielders, with the likes of Arjen Robben, Franck Ribery, Mario Gotze and Thomas Muller on the books, Shaqiri faces a daunting task to break into the starting XI.

Shaqiri’s quote would suggest that he is keen on moving to elsewhere, should a better offer come his way. This would be encouraging news for Liverpool, who are almost certain to secure Champions League football next season.
