Liverpool agree deal to sign Javier Manquillo

Share

Liverpool and Arsenal had been involved in a transfer tug-of-war already this season. The Reds wanted to sign Alexis Sanchez from Barcelona but the Chilean winger chose to join the London outfit instead. However, this time it was a role reversal, with Liverpool moving quickly to beat Arsenal for the highly rated Atletico Madrid defender, Javier Manquillo.

JAVIER MANQUILLO ATLETICO1 624x416 Done Deal: Liverpool agree to sign Arsenal target

Earlier today we reported that Liverpool are leading the race to sign Atletico Madrid’s young right back Manquillo and now Mundo Deportivo claim that the Merseyside giants have reached an agreement to secure his services.

The 20-year-old will join the Anfield outfit on a two year loan with Liverpool having the option to buy him permanently for €6m. However, Atletico will keep an option to get him back during the next two seasons, but only if they continue to play in the Champions League. Liverpool will pay his wages during these loan period.

Arsenal had shown a keen interest in him, with reports emerging early this month that the Gunners want to secure a season long-loan deal for the full back. Mundo Deportivo even suggested that Arsenal had demanded to include a clause in the deal, where they can sign him up permanently next season.

The Gunners have already signed Debuchy from Newcastle United, as a result of which Atletico felt sending the youngster to London now won’t be a good option. The Rojiblancos want to keep a close eye on his progress and felt Liverpool will be the best option for the youngster.

Atletico don’t want to lose out on him but at the same time also want him to get regular playing time (which is difficult at Atletico with Juanfran around) hence the loan move.

Atletico are planning to announce the deal officially soon after they sign Ansaldi from Russian outfit Zenit. While the player understands that life won’t be easy at Anfield either (competition with Glen Johnson and Jon Flanagan), but Mundo claims he has personally requested Atletico board to let him join Liverpool.

  1. Good old Brendan picking up all of Arsenals rejects and paying top dollar for some (Remy).

  2. 5-1 good old arsene

  3. you really are an idiot

  4. I think the coach knows the kind of players
that best suit the playing style he wants Liverpool to have.

  5. pool desperate to beat arsenal for transfer targets.arsenal were not in for him in the first place.very sad his family( if he has)are not willing to live in london.

  6. I don’t care who is being linked to Liverpool, all what the fans want is to see, hear and read from this site that Liverpool have signed top notch players, talking about either Lovren, Alberto Moreno, Marco Reus, Arturo Vidal, Paul Pogba or Isco

  7. Arsenal are never in for him cos we just signed Deburchy, and we have jekinson who is more experienced and premier league tested. Wait a minute; does it mean Liverpool does not have there own scout? You sold your best player, be ready to suffer what Tottenham suffered last season.

    • LOL another disapointing season for ArseWIPEnal coming up. I dont think you will even make top 4 this season……… Remy was a steal and he KNOWS the best team to sign for.
      5-1 YNWA.

  8. We all know that last season’s 101 goals for Liverpool was remarkable and we also know that we conceded too many goals which cost us the title. We also know that we can’t replace Suarez 31 with another striker. BR has done a remarkable job in the transfer market, carefully choosing his goal scoring option and tightening the defence. If we can reduce goals conceded by 15-20% and replace Suarez 31 goals with 20-25…we will be right in the mix when the wips are cracking….We go again…..YNWA
