Premier League giants Chelsea, Manchester United and Manchester City are eyeing up a world record transfer for Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi.

The Argentine has been linked with a move to the Premier League several times, but Messi seemed happy to stay at Barcelona.

According to an exclusive from The Sun (via The Telegraph), the Barcelona star is willing to listen to offers from the Premier League.

The report claims that Messi has dropped a strong hint that he will consider a move to England should the right offer come along.

It appears that the big three from the Premier League have approached the player’s camp with their best proposals and one of them has spoken to Messi’s representatives twice this week.

This has also been confirmed by reputed Spanish journalist Guillem Balague.

Messi has a buyout clause of €250m, but the best player in the world is out of contract in 2018 and Barcelona could be willing to listen to offers next summer.

Signing Messi would be the most incredible coup for any side. The Barcelona attacker is without a doubt the finest player of his generation, perhaps the greatest of all time.

Furthermore, a player like him could elevate the Premier League giants to heights that have not been scaled before. Messi is 28 and is at his peak. A team like Chelsea or Manchester City could win potentially anything with him in their side.

Although at this stage it is all speculation but the last exclusive from Sun (Neymar to Manchester United) had legs to it. The player himself confirmed Manchester United’s approach later in the summer.

In football, never say never.
