What are the ages of the prostitutes?

How many are being brought into SA to meet the demand?

Who will be responsible for the harm, pain and children?

The legalisation of prostitution would open the door for further criminal activity. It is well documented that prostitution promotes human trafficking, drug abuse and the drug trade, increased abortions which while legal in SA is nothing less than a holocaust of convenience- living life without responsibilty for the consequences. To say that we need to legalise prostitution because it will prevent rape as men will not have access to women is the worst argument. George Lekgheto should be promoting abstinence until marriage and faithfullness in marriage rather than justifying a lack of self-control and the hedonistic pursuit of self pleasure at the expense of others. We need to encourage young boys to grow up to become honourable men not just older boys who shave with no self-control or respect for others. Prostitution is not the answer to SA’s poverty. Poverty will be overcome when we take the issue of poverty eleviation as seriously as we have taken preparing the country for the SWC or when we avoid corruption of public funding and see more investment from the private sector into the devleopment of our country. all of this falls to the individuals of our nation thinking about those around us and not just ourselves.

It’s proved by the example of the other countries like Germany or Netherlands that legalizing prostitution will increase the human trafficking of woman and children and mafias operating in the countries. Legalizing it, it’s not for woman safe, it’s to arrange money for the government. For the World cup 2010 they should be concern and prevent the human trafficking for sex exploitation, not the pleasure of frustrated and violent man!!

I’m a first year student @ vaal. this thing of legalizing prostitution is out of the question. If they decide to make it legal, so should weed be legal, this are the lives of people we are talking about, people who whould also like to have good paying jobs one day. Some of those sex workers are under age, does the government actually take notice of that? They too want to go to school and become educated like they are sitting on those big chairs in their offices. Every government member should put his/her life in those sex worker’s lives and think of that person on the street as his/her child, how will they fill? Who are the people to benefit, the government or the PIMPS?

it would be nonsence if it is ever legalised. I agree with Erika lambert, if it were legalised it would be a gift to pimps, and i think it would be a dream for all teens, to run these kinds of businesses. I am a teenage boy of 17 who know of others who would love to be part of this “human traffic’ing.” for once i think all politicians think about the youngsters of SA and not about money.
