No, no, no prostitution, 2010 you promised us many good things, We are still waiting for those promises, not prostitution. Prostitution will kill our families and youth. If we allow prostitution in our country, How many people will die after the World Cup? How many diseases will attack this world? How many children will be able to go back to School after the World Cup? How many people have been trafficked for 2010?
No…no…no Pro-sti-tu-tio-n.

Those who say prostitution should be legalized, they must first, prostitute their, sisters, daughters and mothers.

How can you call this a business?

Poverty breeds prostitution. Many prostitutes work.. to put food on the table. If they had other means im sure not one would prostitute themselves. It is a choice, but it is a choice made in extreme circumstance in a country that does not provide for well for its poor and underprivileged.. 'Sell my body or go hungry and die' is the motive that drives many. Let us not confuse this issue and assume that all prostitutes are autonomous clearminded citizens who would choose a life of prostitution under any circumstances. They are victims who need support. If and only if, the legalization thereof is aimed purely at helping them get off the street, then it is a good idea. If at all, the rest of us with food on our tables, see its legalization as a means to please foreign guests, or generate tax-profit, or to reduce the burden on the police force, or as some ludicrous vicarious way to reduce rape???, or to emulate the example of Germany2006.. then there is something seriously wrong with our motives..

When you see a prostitute, is your first thought.. 'I'm wish she has the constitutional freedom to sell her body to strangers,' or do you have a sentiment of sympathy and think, " i wonder what needs to be done in this society to so that she doesn't have to do this?'

how does legalising prostitution allow for monitoring and evaluation of the trade? what exactly would the police or relevant law enforcement authorities then do in this regard to protect the women or see that they are complying with the regulations?it seems that this whole issue of decriminalising the trade is an idea that has been brought up by those who stand to benefit from the taxes derived from the prostitutes as noone has proved beyond reasonable doubt any benefit there would be in this for the prostitutes themselves. has it not occured to people that even if there is mandatory HIV/STD screening and testing for the prostitutes this does not change anything at all- if a prostitute's licence is suspended or cancelled due to their health status will they just not go back to doing business illegally anyway as it was before the trade was legalised? As the situation stands now, prostitution is a criminal offence but this has not served as a deterrent as prostitutes continue to roam the streets freely. Similarly, does it not stand to reason that even if trading as an HIV positive or otherwise infected prostitute is deemed a criminal offence, this would not deter the prostitutes either? In which case legalising prostitution does not do anything in the fight/ battle against HIV and AIDS.the rape of a prostitute is no less of a crime than it is to rape a woman in any other context. Some have argued that it is their right to trade and be employed as they wish but does this not go against the right to dignity the most fundamental human right on which our constitution is based? what dignity does a woman have when she has to stoop to a level were she has to sell her body for financial gain? Women deserve much more than this and we should all strive to move away from the objectification of women.

the legalisation of prostitution i bliv wud be the complete dehumanisation of women. its sad wen one realises the self conceitedness of men. exactly hw wud ths industry b regulated as our hands r already swammped wt crime issues, dis wud b unneccesary stress. how nw do we as society instill morals in future generations, wen we at dat very moment defy them. ther r enuf cases of human trafficking, nd the abuse of women nd gal children, we do nt nid to perpetrate them. 4 us to revive the worth of women, self pride nd dignity calls for our detesting the passing of such laws. the idea is purely disgusting!!

I AM A YOUNG INDIVIDUAL WHO HAS GROWN TO ACTUALLY SEE THE REALITY OF THE EXISTENCE OF PROSTITUTION. IT HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR YEARS AND WILL CONTINUE TO AS LONG AS PEOPLE ARE WILLING TO BUY. I PERSONALLY WOULD LIKE TO SEE PROSTITUTION BEING LEGALISED SIMPLY TO PROVE THAT WE ALL HAVE EQUAL RIGHTS AS HUMANS, ONE SHOULD BE ALLOWED TO DO WHATEVER THEY WANT WITH THEIR BODIES AND JUST LIKE EVERYONE BE REMINDED AND MADE AWARE OF THE EXISTING DISEASES. PROSTITUTES RIGHTS SHOULD BE AKNOWLEGED, I MEAN REALLY NOW WHO ARE WE TO JUDGE SOMEONE ELSE ABOUT HOW THEY MAKE A LIVING? WE ARE A GROWING NATION AND PROBLEMS OF GROWING UNEMPLOYMENT ARE RISING SO IS THE CRIME RATE, LETS NOT GIVE UP WITHOUT GIVING IT A TRY. HOW DO YOU JUSTIFY THE FACT THAT POLICEMEN (WHOM WE VIEW AS PEOPLE WHO ARE THERE TO PROTECT)RAPING A PROSTITUTE AND NOT BEING REGARDED AS HAVING COMMITTED A CRIME JUST BECAUSE IT WAS A PROSTITUTE? THE FOCUS SHOULD BE THAT A HUMAN BEINGS RIGHTS WERE VIOLATED THEREFORE I SAY GO AHEAD WITH LEGALISING IT IS A JOB AFTER ALL AND THE PEOPLE SHOULD BE TAXED LIKE EVERYONE ELSE WHO IS WORKING AND THERE SHOULD BE AN AGE LIMIT SO AS TO REDUCE AND IN THE END ELIMINATE CHILD PROSTITUTION...I AM A STUDENT IN VARSITY AND THERE ARE STUDENTS WHOM I HEAR ARE INVOLVED IN THIS BUSINESS JUST TO MAKE ENDS MEET AS THEY RESIDE IN RESIDENCE, LETS PLAN ON PROTECTING THE INDIVIDUALS AND ALLOCATE SPECIFIC AREAS WHERE THIS BUSINESS CAN TAKE PLACE AS THIS WILL ALLOW FOR EASIER EVALUATION AND MONITORING.
