European Golden Boot Standings – 2006/2007

European Golden Boot Standings – 2006/2007

Last Updated: 19th June 2007

Francesco Totti is the 2006/2007 Golden Boot winner, scoring 52 points and finishing 1 goal ahead of Real Madrid’s Ruud van Nistelrooy and a point ahead of Afonso Alves. Freddie Kanoute and Didier Drogba led the standings back in February but a late surge by the Italian and the Dutchman (and with Afonso Alves continued hot streak) those two fell away from the lead.

I have no idea why the table is completely messed up and pushed all the way down – for now just scroll down (a long way down) until you see the table. Sorry folks.

not very fair really, IS IT???? some poor sod got 31 goals their and you take it away from him because his league is pants! you’d have been better off not to invlude them!!!

I think it’s down to the fact that the English league is harder for strikers to excel due to the physical approach of the Premiership defenders. In Spain or Italy, players tend to have more space because defenders there are more passive and a little less physical.

’5 best strikers in the world’

ridiculous statement to make. Its hilarious, I think RVN is the only one who deserves to be in that list. Your missing names like Rooney, Henry, Etoo, Villa, Drogba just to name a few. And shevchenko on current form!?
Dont even need to discuss that last name you got there. enuff said

I think that Brazilian striker Afonso ALves should go to Chelsea or Manchester United. He is fantastic striker and he will prouve that if some of the bigger European club be smart and buy the new star of strikers!

Maksim Gruznov is clearly not that good, he plays in the estonian league and he scored 31 goals or something, wich seems not to outstanding compared to alves scoring 34 in an obviously better league. I don’t think trezeguet has scored more than 15 goals in the last 4 seasons. Roy makaay hasn’t played regular football all season or last year, so he won’t be one of the top any more, still good tho, and why would you include shevchenko if he only scored 5 goals all season, we don’t know if he lost form or if he just isn’t good enough for the premiership… David Villa is better, so is eto’o, henry, totti, ibrahimovic and lots of others.

Eduardo da Silva could be an absolute steal if anyone bothered to pick him up. He’s the one who scored the second against England.

It’s interesting to see that 4 of the top 6 all ply their trade in Spain.

and I’m with you Chris, da Silva has been the nuts for Croatia. I don’t understand how nobody’s scouts have decided he’d be a better buy than a 17mil Darren Bent…

What about Mario Jardel!!!He won European Golden Boot twice when he scored 38 goals for Porto and fantastic 42 goals for Sporting Lisabon!!!!!He is fantastic striker:125 games-130 goals for Porto,49 games-53 goals for Sporting Lisabon and 24 games-22 goals for Galatasaray!!!!!!!!!!And in Champions League he scored 10 goals in one season for Porto and was also the top scorer of that competition!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Raul was the best striker in the world years ago,but he can be even now if he works much harder. He is the leading striker in Champions League with 56 goals!Raul was also topscorer in Primera for two times-one in 1999 when he scored 25 goals and the other time was 2001-24 goals!!!He won the bronze bott of Europe for two times and in C.L.He scored 10 goals for two seasons ahead!!!!!!!!!!

[...] only did Alves score some 34 league goals in just 31 games last season, a phenomenal record that is belittled by UEFA’s Golden Boot league-specific co-efficients, but he did so in some style, with many of his goals coming after Ronaldo (at Inter and Barca) [...]

i think they should include how good the player’s team i. rsly, somebody who scores 20 goals for derby county is much better than someone who gets 30 goals for one of the big four.

Mare footballer your top5 are all target men you haven’t included any centre forwards. The people who do the real work to make their goals they have pace and technique and creativity as well as finishing and composure, they don’t just walk into a position and put the ball in the net, Villa, Eto’o, Henry, Tevez and maybe Torres these guys are the
